It is possible to wash and dry the cover. The dryer instructions state that the cover should be dried on a gentle cycle, which I believe is due to the polyester-like material on the cover's sides. It should be fine as long as the dryer does not get too hot.
You should be aware of the issues. When my grandson visits, I use a fold-away cot. When he is here, I am not aware of any noise.
Just like a mattress pad, it has a top and sides.
My two- year- When my grandmother comes to visit, she sleeps on it. I looked to see if it made any noises but couldn't find any. It's a good one. It's padded, so the waterproof lining isn't noticeable. For an adult, I believe it would be suitable.

On the bed, it has never been used. I just got it and wanted to wash it before I put it on the bed. The stitching is already pulling out over a gap of about 1 inch after just one gentle wash. It's only 5 inches long and has yet to be used.
Because of the issues that some buyers have had, I was hesitant to purchase this cover. Perhaps the company has found a new supplier. My cover arrived with no loose threads, washed well, and is exactly the size specified. The plastic waterproof backing makes no noise and, more importantly, has no odor right out of the package, which was very important to me. Cotton that has not been treated with finishing chemicals is becoming increasingly difficult to come by. Even GOTS certification isn't a guarantee, as I've discovered. While this pad is not made of organic cotton, it does not have a chemical odor in the end product.
Our daughter sleeps on the bottom bunk of our travel trailer, where we are currently living. I was relieved to discover that it was not a standard size mattress. It's the perfect fit for the bunk, and having waterproof protection is especially important since she's only two years old.
The product was a perfect fit over the tri-fold. On the cot, I had a folded mattress. The stitching didn't catch the top fabric in one small section, resulting in a hole on the edge. Tumble dry on a gentle cycle with a medium setting, according to the tag. Instead, use a low setting. The waterproof coating on the underside melted in spots when I used medium, but it washed up fine with low. For the time being, it'll be put back on the cot because the quilted top is fine and will be covered by a sheet.
Overall, a high-quality mattress cover. It compares to the softness, comfort, and thickness of the mattress pads on my standard-sized beds in terms of softness, comfort, and thickness. It is not crinkly due to the waterproofing.
This mattress pad was purchased to go with a cot that we bought for my grandson to sleep on when he came to visit. He hasn't had an accident in a long time, so it's working well. It's good to know it's there in case something goes wrong. We will have other small children who may require the use of that cot, and we believe that this will assist us in dealing with the situation if and when it arises.
Because I have dogs who run in and out of the house and jump on the couch, I'm using this product to line my couch seat cushions. My couch's back is made up of three cushions, so it's not suitable for standard couch protectors. These measurements are ideal for my couch cushions, and because it is fitted, it will not shift. I put it on top of a fitted cot sheet. (It's similar to how a mattress is constructed. ) ) My sofa is spotless!.
Not only do these fit snugly over an 8" mattress, but they also fit snugly over a 2" foam topper! This is ideal for our needs. It's a fantastic deal!.
