I have bought two of these blankets for my sons and they are the best I have ever bought. For my 2 yr old I purchased airplanes weighing 5 pounds and for my 7 yr old I purchased dinosaurs weighing 7 pounds. Cool to the touch and yet comfortable, these blankets make a good choice. Aside from the adorable designs, the colors are really beautiful as well. Having trouble falling asleep has always been a problem for her. Despite the essential oils and melatonin we've tried, our daughter seems to prefer this weighted blanket for its ability to give her the comfort she needs to feel secure. Even though I bought her the 5 lb. stick, it's heavier than what we need at this point, but she does not complain about it being so heavy. It's too small to be used as a regular blanket, but it can be used as a lap blanket when necessary. Every night, we layer the sheet between the comforter and her sheet.

The weight would probably be too much for most small children. It's hard to believe that my son is 11 already- I found this weight to meet his sensory seeking needs.
