A vibration that was effective for oral stimulation, but less sturdy (my son would flip it over and chew the end that was exposed to the battery). Moreover, it requires a special battery, while the Sensi runs on AAA batteries. With 1 day of practicing tongue position, we have already developed the ability to partially produce the "L" sound!.
It is very difficult for my son to stay focused without lots of oral sensory input. Providing him with the necessary sensory input appears to be beneficial to him.
My order arrived at the time I expected The purpose of buying this was for my child to learn to swallow, but we haven't tried it yet, but so far it has been an excellent learning tool for helping her grasp We purchased Thia because before we bought it, she wouldn't want to touch ANYTHING. After the vibrations, she wants to hold everything. Also, it uses only one AAA battery, if I'm not mistaken, and cannot be powered by special.
This is a very useful tool for therapy. Kids don't feel scared by the vibration as it is not too intense. The Zvibe is a bit more expensive than this but I think it's a bit better.
I find that this program is very helpful for speech therapy for my son.
As he has trouble recognizing when his mouth is full and ends up shoving too much food in there and then spitting it out, we use this as a way to stimulate him before feeding. He seems to like it, and it seems to be working well for him.
It may be as simple as miniature therapy.
