The use you make of it will be determined by its purpose. Due to the thick material of the scarf, it makes my foot wide and I might not be able to wear my socks or shoes as well if I wrap it around too much with this on. The problem might be that a five-year-old isn't prepared for this.

Suitable for runners. I am having a terrible time dealing with this injury. As soon as my Achilles starts to hurt I have a hard time running. There has been numerous straps I have tried and the biggest problem was that the straps all hurt the bottom of my foot because my orthotic is hard. There's nothing too bad about this one. My arch feels really good when I use it because it is really soft. When I broke my ankle, I used this brace, and it helped me a lot.
