As far as staining goes, I've never tried them. Although they are indeed capable of doing the job, I can confirm that they are more than strong enough. My only complaint about these towels is that whenever I have used them for cleaning, I have noticed that the red pigment rubs off on what I am cleaning, especially if I hope this is helpful
There is no biodegradability in this product.
I've used a variety of "paper" rags throughout my life and this is by far the best I have Several of them have been used as shop towels due to their ability to absorb oil. Also, I use them as a means of cleaning all kinds of surfaces.
As soon as I have finished cleaning a counter or surface I leave mine in bleach solution for several hours at a time so I can wipe it with them. I prefer them to the reusable food service wipes/towels because they stay thicker and stronger than the ones designed specifically for the purpose I use them for, because they turn a medium pink color as opposed to staying red.

There is no comparison to these and they save a lot of money because they last so long. I've had one lying out for over 6 months to see how durable it is, exposed to sun, rain, snow and ice. It's just now showing signs of wear and tear. It took only 2 days to change 4 wheel brakes, a hub and rear shocks, and only two of them were used. The update for December 2019 can be found here. We could not find these towels in blue, and they were hard to find in any other color. Then I rinsed them as I would kitchen paper towels and used them as I would kitchen paper towels. The actual purpose of the purchase was to use them as liner layers in homemade face masks, and I am very pleased with their effectiveness. Their ease of sewing, lack of papery feel between cloth layers, and ability to wash beautifully make them great. The lining hasn't deteriorated in any way that I could notice after washing it five times. I am going to give you one big roll here. Over 400 sheets are on it, and the roll is much heavier than I thought it would be. not sure if I'll have time to make 400 masks, but I have the supplies now in case I need them. As far as I can tell, the towels in red, blue and white are made of the same fabric. If you choose hydro knit towels, make sure that the descriptions say that. The first package of white x50 I ordered was for testing purposes. Towels of this size that are red x80 were then purchased. The towels have a designation on the back that shows how thick or sturdy they are. In this case, it will be x50, x70, x80, etc. I would not use a heavier gauge than x50 or a heavier gauge than x80 for liners. Although these are not going to give you surgical level protection, they are good enough for preventing others from coughing or breathing unfiltered air on you. They may also block larger particulates from other people sneezing, coughing, and breathing directly on.
With all the products WypAll offers, I'm unable to imagine raising my kids without this product. I absolutely love them all. In the white I have the 30 and 60 weights. I have the heavy blue weight and this roll of red towels as well. For heavy use, they have the strength to handle it. Red dishes are for washing dishes, damp dust cloths are for dusting and polishing and white towels may be used to clean eyes of dogs and all other uses in which they are useful. Even the 30 pound weight towels are adequate and more importantly, it reduces my laundry load. The moment I see a roll of paper towels, I rarely waste any money. It's amazing how many things I need to take care of a household of one plus my pets. I know you will order the others after trying the first roll. I have been using these red ones forever because the size is perfect and they can be reused over and over again. I have placed them in a small mesh bag and put them in the washer with my darks and hung them to dry if they are not overly dirty. You can't get cheaper than that, can you? Exactly what we wanted.
We found these towels to be very nice and meet all expectations. They are low lint, which allows me to use them around fairly sensitive hydraulics without the fear of damaging them. It used to be necessary for me to put a piece of x50 (to block lint) on top of a more absorbent pad to rebuild parts, but now this towel is enough.

Additionally, I used them to clean the windows, which worked well. The material has a felt or cloth-like feel. It's impossible to imagine a higher quality than this. In the process of repacking bearings, I used some of them to wipe my hands. I felt wasteful throwing them away. The more I age, the more I find myself willing to pay more for high quality things, and these are high quality.
