These have been put on a wide variety of leathers. I have a 20 year old belt that gets brittle very quickly. It is brought back to health by Smith's. The product did not discolor the leather and did not cause any other harm. It hydrated the leather and has kept it from cracking further. One thing I love about Smiths is that it's all natural. Another thing I love about this company is that it preserves older leather and brings it back to life. When I apply it to my skin with my bare hands, I feel confident it's a safe product. All other leather conditioners have warning labels on their tins, but this one does not. Chemical warning labels or warnings of any sort are not present on Smiths.
