Questions & Answers

Can you recommend this smoke detector as a good choice?

You need to determine whether your smoke detector is wired into your house wiring, and the battery only serves as a backup, or if it is all powered by the battery. The battery should be used indoors as a backup to household power. Use a standard heavy duty (non-rechargeable Several different types of batteries are available, but this one is a good choice if you only have a battery to power your alarm. Smoke detectors that are wired and have the battery as a backup need a higher peak voltage to avoid the sound that drives my dog nuts. (A fresh, new heavy duty About nine volts is the max that an alkaline battery will produce when it is new. I agree to the following conditions Although it only takes 5 volts, it can handle a greater load for a longer time. My house wired smoke detectors start chirping just under 9 volts. The batteries in my dog's collars are only 4 volts, so he hates them if I use alkaline batteries.

Do Quantum and Procell differ in any way?

As far as I can tell, no.

Expiration date When does the product expire?

I purchased these batteries on 1/2015, and they are due to expire on 3/2019. Which seller you use depends entirely on what you are looking for.

Terminals were dented, and none of the terminals were On the date the delivery was expected, I received 12 ProCell Duracell 9V batteries
3/5

"Use before" dates of MAR 2022 were acceptable for all of them. Bubble mailers were used to deliver the batteries, but the batteries were not boxed and were not intact. According to the photo, they arrived as described. A total of three were found in each There are six cracks in it, of varying depths. had a dent deep enough to hold a marble in place and hold the battery at an angle while still holding the marble. There was no rubber covering over the terminals on 3 of the batteries. Not to alarmistically say, but it is a fire hazard. This is why they are covered. Using a voltage tester, each was found to be My system has 33 volts or more, and I haven't seen any evidence of internal damage just yet. My previous purchase of 12 9v ProCell batteries came from a different seller who shipped them in a sturdy corrugated cardboard box, not one made of flimsy cardstock. They were not damaged when they arrived. The seller has lost my business. I won't be ordering from them.

THEY ARRIVED ON TIME AND WERE FORTY
5/5

The package arrived on July 27, 2017 after my order was placed on July 25, 2017. This item will expire on March 20, Make sure you check Amazon at all times. It was possible to find different shipping costs and prices for this Having French writing on the package is not a problem for me, since I am looking for a good price and Prime service. English was the language of the letter I received. (There are no directions included in this section. I looked up how to store the five smoke alarms I had left after updating all my smoke alarms. As a result of my learning The refrigerator should not be used unless the temperature reaches 100 degrees A grade of B or higher is preferred. A major concern is that due to the close proximity of the positive and negative terminals, a fire is a real possibility. Upright storage is best. Do not let the terminals of one computer touch those Don't use metal when it has been corroded c) A paper clip might accidentally bridge the terminal area. The terminals of the batteries were covered in a plastic piece, which I found to be a pleasant surprise. If you don't want to use electrical tape, cover them with a piece of paper.

Make sure they are tested with a multimeter before using them
3/5

Almost a decade ago, I started using Duracell Procell 9V batteries as backup batteries for my hardwired smoke and CO detectors. As much as possible, I replace my smoke detectors every two years before winter since I hate being woken up in the middle of a cold night by a smoke detector that doesn't have a good Detectors that have been sitting in the detectors for 2 years may not even have lost anything on some of them In some cases, some will have decreased by 2V), and some Seven voltage levels. The same devices never discharge faster, even when the same batteries are being used. Any battery that's being used for smoke detectors should be checked with a multimeter first. I just received a box from a third party seller that expires less than one year after purchase. Most patents are valid for at least four years after they are filed. After I installed my smoke detectors, two of them started giving a low battery chirp within 30 minutes because I didn't notice after I installed them and didn't check them first. When I pulled them all apart, more than half had voltages less than 9V. They were just above 9V for the rest. Smoke detector batteries cannot be used as these batteries have no charge and can not be recharging. I'm guessing these batteries sat in some warehouse in extreme temperatures for years before someone noticed they weren't being sold and took them for my order as the box was pristine, and the batteries were obviously unused (the black terminal guards were very snug). There is no point in naming the seller because it could happen with any of them and I'm not sure if it was a "fulfilled by Amazon" item. I want to sow the seed that you should look at each of these items while you're still in the return window and don't accept anything that's "quickly" available We are approaching the end of the term. Please read EDIT I received new batteries from a different seller with an expiration date of 4 years and 11 months in The products have a 5 year expiration date, so they are as fresh as ever. A new style has been adopted, all black, and with the words "PROCELL" instead of Duracell on them. There was a voltage difference of between 9 and 14 for each battery. Zero volts. By the time early 2020 rolls around and you are still seeing yellow PROCELL by Duracell packaging, you are using old stock and should be wary of their charges.

Don't leak and last for a long time
5/5

Only my smoke detectors require 9V batteries, and they usually last a long time. The ceilings in my home are 12 feet high and I have nine detectors, so I'm not keen to replace them any more than I have to. A good rule of thumb is to replace the batteries every year on your birthday (it's easy I just don't want to be on a ladder for very long any more at my age. The way I have done it is to wait for the low-battery tone to start squealing from "one" of the detectors. As soon as all 9 batteries are in, I replace all at once. A marker is used to record the date of replacement for future It was about January 2017 that I last replaced them. There were then 3 1/2 years between the first one and the last one before they began to "squeal". It was about a year ago, in March 2019, when this replacement was performed, that the pullouts were "use before" dates. The batteries have therefore been of good quality and has a long lasting life. The longevity of a device is one thing, but the possibility of leakage is more essential since it can damage, sometimes permanently, an expensive device. There has never been a leak from Duracell Procell in my house. It is possible for me to use cheaper batteries, including Amazon Basic cells, in some instances without any problems. There is no data that quantifies the difference between Duracells and Bunny batteries, but over the years, I would say that Duracells would leak less than Bunny batteries. There is no doubt that manufacturers are constantly trying to improve battery performance, but there's also always the issue of cost-reduction efforts and "outsourcing" that can negatively impact As much as possible, I remove the batteries from devices I do not use frequently. In addition, I tend to use cheaper batteries only for devices that I do not care too much about, such as Christmas displays at home.
