Despite the fact that this device has a USB C port, it cannot be charged with a standard USB C cable. It's only possible if you use the "proprietary USB C cable" that comes with it. One of the main reasons I purchased this device was because it had a USB C port, and I always have a lot of USB C chargers with me when I travel. The fact that it couldn't be charged using standard cables was a deal breaker for me, so I returned it.
Pros: The sound of rain adds a nice touch to the Hushh sound set. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. I can't think of a reason why it's bigger and heavier than it appears. Because of its size and weight, it doesn't do much. There are only a few sounds and only one tune. Also, the battery does not last as long as it should. In the dark, the controls are invisible, and they aren't laid out in such a way that you can quickly learn where they are without looking. Surprisingly, the USB-C cable is not compatible with the USB-C cable. The C port is a little too deep, which prevents some USB-connected devices from being plugged in. Apple's C cables, in particular, are prohibited from being inserted all the way. In terms of where you can hang it, the hand strap is less versatile than the Hushh's circular clip.
This review is for the "Go" version, which was just released a few weeks ago. It's small, about the same size as the palm of my hand, but not quite as thin as my iPhone. It fits easily into my carry-on bag, so I'll bring it with me on my next trip. I was able to get 10 hours of sleep in Times Square, New York City, blocking out the street noise; it worked all night and has a battery to keep going. I'm not going to test the battery for more than one night because all I'll ever need is for it to last the night. I used the sound that sounded the most like white noise at a very high volume, not max. It has a slightly different sound than my Dohm at home, but it puts me to sleep and turns off my brain without the use of the television. It works for me and isn't too expensive, so it's definitely worth a shot.
This was recommended by a professional baby sleep trainer, so I bought it. It stays on all night, is small, and can be charged (though I leave it plugged in). I like that it has a variety of sounds/tones, such as ocean, rain, and a babbling brook, in addition to white noise; I've been using it for a few months and love it. The baby is not woken up by household noise or older children. It does the same for me! br>br>Update from a year ago: The sound machine stopped working about a year after it was purchased. It's been put to a lot of use. Every night for a year, plus nap times, and we forgot to turn it off on occasion. Because of the short lifespan, I gave it a one-star rating.
This was purchased to replace a travel mini-fridge. My final component is still powered by a mini USB port. Beware: This device will not charge using a standard Anker USB-C cable. C to USB- C cable. Two different Anker cables have been tried. Only when connected to a Ravpower two-port USB hub will it work. For phones and computers, I bring a C charger with me when I travel. Also, charging from a USB port is not possible. C is a type of wall plug. It can be charged using the USB cable that comes with it. A > USB- C cable, but for me, traveling with USB-C defeats the purpose. I'm not sure what the problem is with the C cables for headphones, computers, and other devices.
I really wish I had bought this a long time ago. I own two of the original Marpac Dohms, which I adore, but they're too big and bulky to travel with. And, while I had previously relied on a white noise app on my phone, it wasn't until my GO arrived in the mail over the weekend that I realized how inadequate the white noise app was. The only suggestion I have is to include a USB wall charger as well, because having a spare USB wall charger can be risky at times.
I suffer from tinnitus (ear ringing) and am unable to tolerate complete silence. The ringing in your ears can drive you insane when a room is too quiet, especially when you're trying to sleep, so a device like this is essential for me. I like that it's compact and won't take up too much space on a crowded nightstand; I also like that it doesn't require any complicated setup; all you have to do is plug it in and turn it on. It's great that there are so many sound options available. I like how simple it is to use; there are only three buttons to turn it on, cycle through the sound options, and adjust the volume.
The sound selection is excellent. We needed something small because we wanted to take it with us on our trip. I asked a question about the correct item size because the description has conflicting measurements. Regrettably, the responses I received were of varying dimensions. I recently received the actual item and took precise measurements of it. Dimensions are as follows: It's 4-inches long when closed. 1/8" x 2- 1/8" x 1- 5/16". When fully opened, it measures 7-inches by 7-inches by 7-inches by 7-inches by 7 1/4" x 2- 1/8" x 1- 5/16". I'm hoping that the correct measurements will assist people who are trying to figure out the various dimensions that have been floating around. Overall, I believe this will be an excellent travel companion.
