On high, like an oscillating fan, it's loud enough to wake you up. To better drown out the noise, place it between yourself (or your baby) and the source. Place it between the bed and the door if the noises are coming from inside the house. Put it between the window and the bed if the noise is coming from outside the house, such as lawnmowers or traffic. I hope this information is useful.

It depends on how close the dogs are to one another and how loud they are. I've had one of these since I was a kid, and your mind focuses on the white noise it produces, ignoring all but the most obnoxious outside noise. We had a car slam into three parked cars across the street from our house, and we didn't realize it until the next day when we saw the damage. It will undoubtedly be beneficial.
No, I don't want to listen to music with headphones or earbuds while sleeping. This device has an internal fan that produces the noise; I've had one of these running while sleeping for the past 15 years and it's still going strong. It was only turned off when there were power outages. I couldn't sleep because I couldn't stop thinking about it.

They are my favorite. I give them as gifts to all of my friends who have recently welcomed a new baby. My first thought was to create an open office to help drown out private conversations from a nearby kitchen that I didn't want to hear. My first was for my first child, and the second was for my second child. When my second child was born, we added a third, and then I got my own to sleep through my husband's snoring. They're fantastic. br>br> Until they start to shake. Nothing is more irritating than a rattle that isn't consistent. I unscrewed the bottom of the worst offender in order to avoid spending another $50. It was dusty, so I cleaned it with compressed air and sprayed the base of the fan's shaft with a tiny drop of silicone lubricant that doesn't attract dust. I turned it on after a minute of letting it soak in, and the rattle was gone. I'm back in love after saving $50.
The wattage isn't the same as it was before! My 2013 model had a different wattage! It's also not as loud, and it has a "hollow" sound to it. My 2013 model puts out 40 watts, while the new model puts out only 18 watts! "Original model, cherished for generations," says the box, but it's not made the same way! What's the point in messing with something that's already working? My 2013 model is still going strong, but I purchased this one as a backup because of the lighting deal. But I'm afraid I'll have to return it. What a letdown!.
I've had one of these for years and it's still in use in my 4-year-old's room. We bought a second one when we found out we were expecting our second child, and it's been temperamental since we started using it about 5 months ago. It took a few seconds to turn on at first, which I didn't think was a big deal at the time, but it got worse. Now it starts fine 80% of the time but it takes up to 15 minutes to start whirring a couple nights a week to start whirring a couple nights a week to start whirring% That's something I'd be okay with. It's only a minor annoyance at this point. What has me most frustrated is the unit's inconsistent sound after only a few months of use. It sounds as if the rotating parts inside aren't spinning smoothly, and it emits a loud chirping sound instead of a steady white noise. It's more distracting than relaxing, making it practically useless. Other reviewers have also mentioned the difference in low mode volume between newer and older versions. br>br> I can vouch for those claims, but we only use the highest setting at all times. br>br>My second attempt has left me very disappointed. Playing with the dohm was a lot of fun. I'll have to look for another option, and I'm no longer recommending it to my friends.
I'm worried. After falling in love with the one I got for my daughter's room, I decided to purchase this one in January. I had no problems with the first one I purchased from Babiesrus, but this one emits a strong plastic burning odor after a few hours of use. I haven't used it much since I bought it, but as summer draws to a close, I wanted to put it to better use. I initially assumed the odor was due to the fact that it was new, but months later, I'm convinced there is a problem. I'd like to contact the manufacturer, but since I bought it on Amazon, I'm hoping for some guidance. I'm also expecting a second child in December and don't want to have to buy another sound maker. I'm willing to send the one I have out so that it can be examined.
I had this product for less than a year when it started causing me problems after only 60 days. I'd turn it on at first and it wouldn't make any noise, so I'd toggle the switch back and forth until it "caught" and stayed on. After another month, this little trick stopped working, and I had to start fiddling with the actual power connector where it was connected to the machine to get it to work again. br>br>I use this for my infant son's room to put him down for naps and sleep in our busy house and it appears that about 9 months after purchase, that second little trick stopped working and I am left with a motor humming sound that shows it is getting power but the product no longer makes the white noise and just hums with power, no noise. I should have taken action as soon as I noticed a problem, but as any busy parent knows, there are 1000 other things to worry about every day, so I didn't fix it unless it was "completely" broken. br>br>Both from a responsiveness and a product standpoint, a lesson was learned. With its history of breaking, I will not order this expensive unit again. I'll try those instead of another investment in a product that broke so quickly. There are far less expensive white noise machines that I'm confident do a good job for half the price, so I'll give them a try.
The machine is already making an odd noise after only two months of use. as if the machine is already stuttering and losing steam. br>br>Apart from that, it's a nice ambient noise machine that should last at least a year, if not longer. We barely made it past the return window before hearing the noise, so we won't be able to return it.
There's a rattle! I read other reviews where people said theirs started to rattle after a while and that if they cleaned out the dust it was fine, but mine started rattling on the second day I had it. I bought this for my baby, and while she doesn't seem to mind, the rattle is quite annoying, especially considering the price; however, if the rattle was removed, it would be a 5 star item. If it started rattling after a few months, I would give it a three-star rating. But, in all seriousness, Day 2!.
Purchasing is not recommended. We bought it because the baby had been sleeping in our room with a 20-year-old model from a different manufacturer. After four months of only using it overnight, this model failed. Our other 20-year-old model, made by a different manufacturer, is still going strong, despite the fact that it is garbage. It's not something you should buy.
