I frequently visit the beach with the goal of keeping food warm until we are ready to eat. I warm up the packs and place them in the bottom of my insulated backpack. As long as the pack remained in the car out of the wind, the food was still hot three hours later. I once left the insulated pack out on the table until we were ready to eat, but it had already cooled significantly. That day, I discovered the importance of keeping the item inside until we are ready to eat. It's fantastic for everyday events, in my opinion. It also serves my purpose perfectly now that I know to keep my belongings in the car. I hope this has been of assistance.
It's toxic because it's made of chemicals.
Only for use in a microwave. Boiling or placing on a hot surface is not recommended. I'm not sure how well the hot water method would work.
It's unclear whether or not it's toxic. However, the gel has a loose feel to it, as if the liquid inside is runny, and it does not hold its temperature well. This film has received mixed reviews.

We've had great success with this product for several years, but when it came time for me to heat the pack for the first time today, I neglected to read the very first instruction, which stated, "Heat with THIS SIDE UP. " It burst before a minute had passed because I placed it in the microwave with the text down. THIS INSTRUCTION SHOULD BE DISPLAYED IN A MORE VISIBLE LOCATION.
While my pack appears to be brand new, the contents appear to be very runny, making it difficult to align the pack with the contour of the body part you're trying to warm. The packs I received from my doctor's office were far superior, which explains my lukewarm response. As another person pointed out - It will become extremely hard and lose its flexibility once frozen. I'm glad I only bought one pack and won't be too concerned if I have to discard it.
This product turned colors the first time I heated it in the microwave, and all of the red seemed to bleed. This made me uncomfortable. It doesn't heat up very well, and I only bought it for the purpose of using it as a hot pack. You have to keep taking it out and squishing it to get it to heat all the way through because it has hot and cold pockets.
I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet because the pack has a paper label with a bar code on it that I haven't been able to remove so far. I tried peeling it off (atuck was very tight), but it wouldn't come off. wetting the paper and peeling it (didn't seem to faze the paper; it was still stuck tight and couldn't be peeled! ) Now I'm going to try putting some goo on it to see if it dissolves. I'm afraid to heat it because it might rip the pack or cause a fire in the microwave, so I'm not sure how well it will work, but it looks identical to the one I used for about 20 years (minus the paper label) and it worked flawlessly, so I expect this one to do the same (once the paper is gone).
These things are fantastic for keeping hot food hot or cold food cold. When heating it in the microwave, be very careful not to overheat it. Keep an eye on it while it's in the microwave. It's best to do it in small chunks.
This was given to me as a gift to go with my (Arctic Zone delux hot/cold) carry case, and it easily fits into the extra pocket. We probably didn't need the case because it worked so well, but it does the job and lasts a long time.
One week after the return eligibility date, two small holes appeared. This thing was only frozen once and then thawed; it was never heated. It's obvious that the plastic isn't thick enough. I'm currently looking for a more durable pack to replace this one because I don't recommend it.
I purchased this to replace the one that came with my travel pyrex stoneware dish. That one was used for a few years for both hot and cold water before leaking and being discarded. I have other slim cold packs that I can use, but I missed having a hot pack to use with hot foods. This looks exactly like the original, and I'm looking forward to using it.
