Selected User Reviews For Digital Peak Flow Meter (PEF) and Forced Expiratory Volume (FEV1)
I don't like it.
As a result of downgrading my lung capacity and shortness of breath, I have been experiencing shortness of breath. In spite of many tests, the doctors have not found anything specific wrong. However, they have recommended exercise. I thought this flow meter could tell me if I am progressing. I followed all of the instructions to set up the device properly, but I receive only a zero for the readings. Since I am dead and do not know it, I assume "zero" represents a good rating for the device rather than for my respiratory system. A second factor that I look into when judging a product is how a company backs it up. The customer service department helped me when I was unable to get any readings from this meter My phone rang twice in a row. Both times, a recorded message said I'd get a call back within two hours. I never heard anything else from the company. The good news is that Amazon made it very easy for me to return the item. This product was worthless, so the bad news is that it wasn't worth your money.
I had the best respiratory care hospital staff test the system to see if they could make it Apparently it was defective. It won't be returned.
Amazon will not accept returns. There is a 2 year warranty but I am unable to reach anyone at Microlife to find out what is going to happen. The refund or exchange must be made within 14 days. Voice mail is the default setting for Microlife phone numbers. In the event of a problem, there is no customer service or Customer service support from this company. The Amazon protection I thought I had did not apply to me. Those at the Respiratory Hospital who reviewed Microlife said that it was effective at one time but that it has recently been plagued with problems.
If you want the Mir Smart One or Piko, you should buy them. In comparison, the Microlife PF100 is a distant second. Over the years, I have owned four of these units. Even though these services have many faults (which you can read about in the reviews), I have used them since I did not know of any alternatives that were affordable. However, this product contains no improvements or updates to the PF100. Microlife should have gathered up all the reports of bugs in the PF100 and fixed them. It is likely that they did not want to invest money in this because it was a cash cow for them. The danger here is that the health of people depends on this device. You can do better than this.
Chronic severe asthma has made it difficult for me to breathe. The button does not work every time I blow into it most of the time and nothing happens. It makes me very sad. Due to chronic severe asthma and the difficulty of reading and using it, I needed something easy to.
The last time I bought this here on Amazon, it was several years ago Since it was first conceived, it has always worked E has been given to me During the past year, I have been smoking). As a matter of fact, my asthma physician has tested this device and found it accurate. app it recommends I use to record my FEV1 on my phone is no longer available for Windows, but I use an older app on my phone instead asthmasMD is a website for people with asthma. has been dropped a number of times and it has not broken. Three reusable mouthpieces are supplied with it, and they are easily cleaned. It comes with a bag and a carrying handle.
If you decide to order one of those, you need to understand the difference between a spirometer and a peak flow meter. Using a spirometer, you can measure the size of the amount of air you can exhale or inhale. A device that measures the rate of air expulsion from the lungs can also measure the volume of air being expelled. The Peak Flow Meter, on the other hand, measures only how fast the lungs expel air. The peak expiratory flow is known as this. I wanted to clarify that since some reviews seem to have them confused here, so I wanted to get that out of the way first. *BR>*BR>I have a manual Peak Flow Meter that I received from my doctor, but I haven't used it much for my asthma. We needed to use out some FSA money before the year is out, and this item fit the bill since it was priced at a reasonable level. As with all items purchased from Amazon, this item arrived with its own box containing everything it includes (USB cable, batteries, spare mouth pieces, directions, and a handy In addition, the included instructions are sufficient to set up and operate the device. I downloaded the software from Microlife's website and installed it on an old Windows XP computer with no problems (the software does support up to Windows 8) without issue. In order to communicate with the unit and receive readings, the software must communicate with the unit. By entering some information, you can create a "Patient" in the software and the system will be ready to run. It's cool that multiple patients can be created, since devices of this type at this price point don't usually support more than one user. Although using the device and software together can be cumbersome, it is possible to save readings for more than one patient. The software would allow me to print graphs or just the data so I would be able to bring it to my doctor's appointments since he constantly asks if I have a Peak Flow Meter and what measurements are made. It is also possible to export the data as a CSV (Comma, Separated Value) file.
Here is another point to consider. A Peak Flow Meter is designed to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory illnesses. Hence, you should be seeing a doctor to schedule an appointment to stop the recurring results and plan your course of The readings I took with this meter were very similar to the readings I took with the manually operated device given to me by my doctor, so I have confidence that it is working correctly. My overall experience with my purchase has been positive. There's no point in rating it 5 stars as anything can be transformed into a 5 star product. In spite of the fact that asthma and COPD can't be cured, they can still be managed effectively. I appreciate this device because it does what it is supposed to do and helps me in that regard.
