A pity - I liked how I looked and how I felt. However, it was built with a weak neck that was cut across the grain of the wood, ensuring that it would fail under pressure.
I was getting a total knee replacement and knew I'd need a cane to get around. I knew these walking canes were handmade in Ukraine and that shipping could take a few weeks after reading the reviews. So, when I placed my order for my cane, I asked the seller to send it to me as soon as possible so that I could use it when I needed it. The seller was prompt in responding and, true to his word, promptly built and shipped my cane. It arrived a week before my surgery (the total shipping time was nearly three weeks). I'm ecstatic that I ordered this instead of settling for a mass-produced cane. This cane is lovely and has a lot of interesting details on it. I want my cane to be stylish and interesting if I have to walk with it. This is a fantastic example.
I'm 6 feet 3 inches tall, and the 36-inch mark for proper cane length is where my arm length is measured. I'm recovering from a complete quadriceps femoris tendon rupture and occasionally use a cane for walking support, and 34 inches isn't a comfortable posture if I have to rely on the cane arm to take my weight. Unless the seller can assist me in correcting this, I will be returning this lovely cane. If that's the case, I'll make a change to my review. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Oleg from Asterom, the manufacturer, contacted me to clarify things, and he's sending me a longer replacement shaft so I can customize the length to my liking. While the package is being shipped from Ukraine to the Midwest of the United States, I must commend them on responding to the complaint in less than one day. These are my go-to people as a cane user for the rest of my life. to the vendor!.
It's well-designed. This is an excellent Cane. The design is well-thought-out, beautiful, and comprehensive. This is a very sturdy and well-balanced piece of furniture. The handle is also a joy to hold, feeling very smooth in the hand. br>br>Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a very stylish cane, whether for costume or medical reasons. Additionally, if you are looking for a stylish cane that can be used with Bartitsu / self-defense, I would recommend this product based on the strength of the cane (if you request a strong build in the custom order), but it is too beautiful to use for frequent practice, as I would only wish to scar the wood if I had no choice. I have not put this product through extensive stress testing and have no plans to do so; I simply wanted to make a special note for anyone considering it for this reason.
I've been using this on a daily basis for a few weeks now, and I'm really enjoying it. It's lighter than you might think, more durable than you might think for a hardwood of this density, and stains beautifully. Other reviews have mentioned durability issues, which I believe are due to individual manufacturing flaws (they are, after all, handmade), or people making mountains out of ant-hills. hills. Scratches, dents, and grain texture are all characteristics of stained wood. If the piece's appearance isn't as important, steel and other metals offer a slew of more durable options, many of which are both faster and less expensive to produce. But if you're looking for a little extra help and want to make a stylish statement at the same time, I don't think you'll find anything better.
a great deal of praise until (due to my fault) it snapped in half! I purchased two of them, each with a unique design. br>br>Everyone who saw them remarked on how nice the cane was. br>br>But then one sad day, I found it in the back seat of my Jeep, on the floor. I exited the Jeep, and this would not have happened if I had used my cane as instructed. I went to the back of the Jeep and released the seats to flatten them out, which they did, right on top of my cane, which had snapped in half! br>br>When my other hip fails and I need to use a cane again, I'll order just the stick portion!br>br>Highly recommended!.
I've been looking for a good 'Special' walking stick/cane for a long time because I'm a big guy with balance issues who needed something comfortable, strong, and different. This Asterom cane had everything I needed. The grip comfort and balance over the shaft centerline are superior to any other cane I've ever used or tried. It feels natural, and unlike other canes, you don't have to constantly adjust your grip. It's the perfect complement. The photos do not do it justice; it appears to be high-end furniture or something you'd find in a museum. It's beautifully made, has a flawless finish, and, most importantly, it works for me. It may be more expensive than the others, but it will almost certainly be the last cane you will ever need. It's wonderful that I came across it.
The only drawback to this product (and all of their canes, as I own six) is that it is not waterproof. is the wood's extreme softness. It is extremely easy to damage if you accidentally allow it to fall over. That's quite unexpected. From simply falling over on a hardwood floor, I have dents and dings all over the cane. There's no going back once it's been dinged. I still recommend it because of its beauty and high quality workmanship, but potential owners should be aware of how easily it can be scarred.
