I don't think there's any reason why it shouldn't be done. I'll fill it with hot water and soak my brush in it before shaving. Pour the majority of the water out when it's time to shave. Using a brush, apply soap to the bowl and whisk it together. The first pass is pleasant and comfortable. The second pass is a little more interesting.
The average inside height is a little over 2 inches, with a diameter of just under 4 inches. br>Many thanks for taking the time to read this!

Please refer to BravoZulu's review, as I am unlikely to be able to give a better one. However, I did see a review from someone who didn't like how the "branding" was placed on the bottom of the bowl (I believe it was a different bowl than the Jay I was considering). I'd just like to add that I thought the bowl's character was enhanced by the bowl's simple and humbly written signature. "Jay" is all that's written on it. It does not have a fancy stamp or logo, which most people find annoying, but rather an artisans signature, which I find adds to the enjoyment of using it. Knowing that this bowl was handcrafted by someone with talent and skill gives me every reason to praise it. 5 stars.
It's a lovely piece of handcrafted art that also happens to be very useful. The whirling The ridges on the inside bottom of the bowl aid in lather production. If you look closely, you'll notice that it actually has 7- It has two sides, and the inside has a "bumpy" shape that will aid your brush in doing its job- It's a minor detail, but it adds to the fact that this is a highly functional piece that goes above and beyond your typical shave mug. The tan colored patches on the exterior have a light sandpaper texture, making it easy to hold with wet hands, but the bowl itself is heavy and solid. That means it won't slide around on your counter if you prefer to lather with just one hand, which I like. br>br>Are you familiar with all of this? It means that this bowl will last a lifetime and is attractive enough that my wife will not force me to replace it with something with flowers or animals on it! D I'm so glad I bought it! br>br>In terms of shipping, it was bubble wrapped and placed in a small square box with great care. That box was then placed in a shipping box with air pillows to fill in any gaps. You did an excellent job. Buyers shouldn't be concerned about breakage unless the delivery person is simply throwing it around (as some are). (Do not inquire as to how I know this. ) br>br>This is an excellent purchase!.
Ok- The problem with ceramic shaving bowls is that it's a universal problem. They break in the sink after slipping from your grip. As long as your hands are dry, this will help you with the raw pottery as finger grooves. Because my shave cream is so greasy, even a small amount renders that feature useless. In any case, it looks great and adds a touch of earthiness to a bathroom in Arizona where too many shiny objects look out of place. br>I don't like how the bowl's features thin out areas and make them more likely to break. To prevent it from scratching the marble counter, I placed it on top of my shaving towel. This appears to greatly reduce risk, allowing me to use this one-of-a-kind and extremely attractive bowl. The inside bowl features appear to be minimal, but they are more than adequate for whipping up a thick lather with a good brush. My expectations for a $25 bowl were exceeded, and I'm very pleased. br>Please keep in mind that there are some minor features and color changes that aren't visible in the photos. These minor details add to the uniqueness of a handcrafted item. br>If I mess up, I'm going to be in big trouble. Because I like it so much, it will be glued back together.
I purchased more soap because the soap in the first shaving bowl I purchased was almost gone. Of course, since it was a tiny glass container that barely fit the brush and razor, I knew there was no way I could fit anything in it without cutting it down to size. br>br>This one has a lot of room and is easy to hold. I haven't tried holding it with damp hands, but the parts that aren't glazed have a nice roughness to them, so you should be able to get a good grip on it.
This is a stunning bowl, and the textured, slightly unfinished surface adds to its appeal. It's about as drop-proof as a bowl without a handle can be, thanks to its rounded sides. The interior is also textured to aid lather formation, and the volume is sufficient. I chose the one that was a little bigger.
This bowl is ideal for me because it fits comfortably in my hand and allows me to produce excellent lather. The size was perfect, and the job was done perfectly.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered pottery from Amazon, but what a pleasant surprise! The bowl is perfectly shaped to be held in one hand, and the unglazed parts of the bowl provide a perfect rough area to keep the bowl from slipping out of your hands when wet. The thick pottery retains heat well, especially when prewarmed with hot water, and the textured parts on the bottom aid in the quick build-up of lather. Overall, it's an excellent bowl for creating luscious, warm lather.
It suffices for me. The swirls at the bottom cleverly speed up the lathering process with the shaving brush. My wife likes it because it goes well with the other blue accents in the master bathroom. She even inquired as to whether I could find other items in the same color scheme and pattern! To avoid breakage, the unit was delivered quickly and properly packed. It's easy to grip with wet, soapy hands thanks to the pattern and finish.
