Beginning a diet in the middle of the year There is no other place where you can purchase orzo in whole wheat but here. Whole grain pasta, rice, etc can all be used as much as we can. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. (now if I could just find whole grain orecchiette as well). The 9 grams of fiber per 2 oz serving are just what I was looking for in an orzo. In the case where I have a little extra rice leftover from a previous dinner, I make this orzo and add the leftover rice, like "Rice-a-Roni" Using leftover rice as a pilaf in rice dishes is a good way to stretch it. Add them to soups or serve them as a side dish with butter and sage or with sliced vegetables in the summer with a vinaigrette. ". So it doesn't go to waste at all. It has a shelf life of several years. Kasmati rice from this brand is also great for Indian, Mexican, and Asian dishes when they are called for. These size tubs are huge most orzo is packaged in 16 ounce sizes, so you are getting close to 2 lbs each tub even if you pay about $7. Additionally, I like the fact that it has no raw foods that I am allergic to. It is not allowed to have eggs, nuts, etc. The granddaughter I have is allergic to a few foods, so I stock up on allergen-free items only I love the food that's free. I believe it's a good product for all these reasons, as well as many more.
It goes well with many dishes and can also be eaten alone. I add it to many dishes or make it on its own as a side dish. My search for orzo has led me to this site only. There is no weight watcher point associated with this.
Despite being a good product, I don't think it's worth the price. From now on, I'm just going to buy Barilla orzo for 99 cents a box. Suppose they are able to make rainbow rotini at a reasonable price with veggie-based ingredients, they should be able to make orzo the same way.
I could live without the tricolor but I can live with it since it is one of my favorite products. It is so hard to find in stores these days.
The price is $38 for five jars. The only one I received was this!.
It is so wonderful to eat this pasta. Besides having a high fiber content, it cooks quickly as well. A great flavor is present in this dish. This is a perfect item for summer to have on hand as a sald. It looks like the lid is also GMO-free since the label is non gmo project verified. Also, the whole wheat cous cous makes this company attractive to me. Besides the whole wheat pearl cous cous, I have also eaten the rosemary cous cous, which has a good flavor thanks to the rosemary extract that is added to it.
A wheat orzo that we've been trying for a long time has finally turned up. With the exception of one orzo dish that was decent, it has worked well in most of our cold and hot recipes. Pasta made from brown rice has a stronger flavor than regular pasta made from bleached flour, so it is best used in savory recipes. The pasta, like most wheat pastas, needs just a short amount of time to boil, and it remains very firm once it is done. Since we haven't yet overcooked it, I can't say whether it will become mushy and mealy like wheat pasta often does. This is an excellent book.
Amazon proved to be the best place to find whole wheat orzo after searching successfully for it in many grocery stores. However, though you need to buy a lot, this product has a great shelf life, and the price is also fair. This is an improved orzo with a better taste and texture, and is also healthier because it contains whole grains. Despite the directions telling you to boil and drain it like pasta, I cook it more like rice by slow-simmering 1 cup of the pasta in 2 cups of liquid until the liquid is absorbed and the pasta is soft.
