It's best to wait for a sale where they are one for $1 or less. If you paid $7 for a box, then you're ripping off big time. Seeing the price of $22 may seem high, but it isn't. It is not unusual to pay about $8 for 16 however it may be better depending on where you shop or live. Perhaps you live in an area with a very high cost of living?
It may be that I can use cut spaghetti (noodles) since that's all I use!

Pastini were purchased to cook with broth/soup for my son who is 1 year old and my 5-year-old daughter who is 5. The majority of it is for the baby, however. He normally has rice noodle but I want him to try something new. Also, we just moved to another town where the nearest Asian market is about an hour away and Amazon sells rice noodles for incredibly high prices (and those brands do not taste as good as the ones In any case, here are some pics to demonstrate the size of the pastini. It's a tiny noodle in the shape of a star. I did not have to cut the size because it is perfect. As well as cooking quickly, they have a great attitude. Each week I make chicken and beef broths and pack them in small containers. Half of the containers will go to the freezer. I gave this package a low rating because it was poorly packaged. In each box of Pastina, there were quite a few of the pasta stars leaking out. After 15 minutes of using a hand vac, the problem was solved, but it was a painful experience. With a bit of salt and a pat of butter, the Pastina itself is pretty good. In the morning, this would make a great alternative to oatmeal.
The pastina we eat at home is beloved. This is the shape this family prefers for broth soups, but it's been difficult to find this pasta in local groceries since they have mysteriously stopped carrying any brand. Worse still, it's my picky toddler's favorite, so I have been turning to Amazon instead. Pastina adds a great deal of size and texture to soups, but it also absorbs all the flavors in a splendid way. I always add extra broth to balance them out since they will suck up quite a bit. Upon opening the box, I saw that the small boxes were pouring out their contents. It is almost impossible to open the boxes because they are all badly glued. Just six of the boxes had a good seal. My frustration stems from the fact that I bought these pastas for a baby. Unfortunately, the boxes have been damaged and the products have been contaminated with microbes as a result. I find this to be a bad thing. This carrier will not be of service to me in the future.
It is a wonderful pasta, especially for a child's digestive tract or an adult with a sick digestive tract. Once it is cooked, a raw egg is placed in the middle of it.
