Fennel pollen in a 05 ounce package. I am sending you the finest pollen of Franconia. The best of the best! But wait, after pouring it into my storage container, I noticed that their definition of finest and pollen differs greatly from mine and just about the rest of the world. The minute pollen and dust in the package were sifted through a strainer to yield a weight of 1. I am using this weight as a basis for calculating the weight of the fine powder. There are 4 ounces in each package. A total of $36 results from this. There is an ounce of gold for 70 cents. There are five of me. The flower sticks should be chopped into 6 oz. These companies, in my opinion, should not be allowed to sell on Amazon without providing customers with the option of returning products with grossly overstated claims about quality, quantity and cost. This is clearly fraudulent and deceptive on both a broad as well as a direct basis!.
The price difference between this Fennel Pollen, and others of a similar type, is much lower per lb, but it has more flower pieces, which adds a little less flavor. It's hard to taste anything when there are stiff pieces of flower between my teeth and distracting mouthfeel. There is a less delicate flavor, less floral and a more fennel-like flavor than with some other brands. It wouldn't have cost me much more if I had instead purchased a higher quality, smaller container from another brand that contained a little more pollen and less stem for a little more money, at basically $100/lb. Despite its good flavor, it doesn't have the smooth finish of a fine baking spice that reveals itself well upon presentation in the kitchen. This is advantageous because it doesn't feel like you need to use it sparingly due to 8oz being so large.
