I discovered how to do it. Making miso soup from scratch is now a favorite of mine. These are my go-to ingredients for making dashi broth with miso paste. When my Japanese American relatives inquired about how I made such a delicious miso soup, I simply substituted bonito flakes for powdered dashi mix. When crushed, the flakes have a wonderful flavor. Wasabi, Shoyu, and sesame seed oil were sprinkled over tofu. green onions, roughly chopped.

I use them as a food topper, and she eats all of her wet food this way. If it hadn't been for a Japanese cat blogger I follow (stray cat j-), I probably wouldn't have thought of them. san! ) but they're a godsend, especially if you're trying to feed a sick cat who's lost her appetite; I believe they work well to attract cats to food. This listing is particularly low-cost—some businesses have repackaged bonito flakes as "for cats" and charge exorbitant prices. What an elaborate ruse! Bonito flakes, such as these, are perfectly healthy and safe for your cat to eat.

This is a must-have in any Japanese kitchen! Hanakatsuo is a must-have in every Japanese kitchen! I've used this Yamahide brand hanakatsuo to make dashi stock as well as toppings for okonomiyaki, hiyayakko, agedashi tofu, and other dishes, and the flavor and umami are fantastic in both cases! It was delivered promptly, in good condition, and at a reasonable price

This is one of the more affordable bonito flakes options, but that doesn't mean it's any less good. It's delicious for making dashi, and despite the fact that my cats won't eat them once I've dried the used ones, my dog will. They're our go-to training snack!.
