Ok, so I read some of the negative reviews, but the majority of them were positive, so I decided to give it a shot. In this case, it was a blunder. Produce that is both terrible and potentially dangerous. FDA should look into it. It has a strong chemical flavor to it that is difficult to pinpoint. It lingered long after the salt had worn off, and it made me feel sick. There was also a lot of fine grit in every bite, and I mean every bite. br>br>I'm not sure if they've "treated" it with something to make it look like Pink Himalayan salt, but it's not usable, or at least not something I'd feel comfortable using. I guess I'll use it to salt my steps since Amazon gave me a no-questions-asked refund?.
So I grabbed this because I'd grown accustomed to using pink salt and wanted to continue doing so. I read the reviews ahead of time and noticed that a few people mentioned that it contained hard mineral bits. I didn't think much of it because I'd had that experience before, even with very high-end pink salt; the first thing I used it for was pasta water, which was strained but not rinsed after the pasta was cooked. That was a huge blunder. I made a fancy Mac n' cheese with a silky velveeta sauce, and every single bite of pasta had a crunch from the hard bits that had apparently stuck all over the pasta after it was strained. It crunches like sand, giving you the impression that you're going to chip a tooth every time you chew, and effectively ruined a large pot of mac and cheese I made for a BBQ. I'm not sure how I'm going to proceed with such a large bag of salt and rocks, but if I keep using it, it'll be on things I can rinse to prevent someone from cracking their tooth.
When I first saw this, I thought it was fantastic and that it had received a lot of good feedback. However, you must consider the one star rating. These are accurate representations of the facts. I've had the same problem with this product, stones and/or sand. It's mostly sand, so you get salt with grit. If your teeth are important to you, you will not purchase this product and instead opt for a better alternative. The picture on Amazon depicts a nice, clean salt, but what they send is nothing like that - Worst of all, it's too late for me to return because I received it a few months ago. This winter, I'm guessing it'll be beneficial to salt the sidewalks.
We love Himalayan Pink Salt, and I bought this bag thinking I'd be able to use it for a long time. 5 POUNDS OF SALT IS A LOT OF SALT! I'm not sure I'll need to buy any more for a long time. This bag may be used by our children long after we are gone. The cost, on the other hand, was reasonable. It's expensive to buy it in small quantities at Trader Joes.
This product meets my expectations, and I will buy it again if the need arises!.
I used to get my Pink HSS at Whole Foods for $8 for a whopping 9 oz. Needless to say, I'm happy with this $11 5 pound bag! br>The taste and quality are also far superior to the Whole Foods product I purchased. I'll definitely order from you again. again!.
We don't seem to be able to locate coarse salt in our area. It's a hit-or-miss situation when it comes to availability. This was an excellent deal for something that will most likely last us ten years. The favor is exactly what we expected, and it's very similar to the favors we've received in smaller packages. br>Filled the grinder and vacuum-sealed the rest of the contents.
I bought several different brands from Amazon, Kroger, and Target, but this is my favorite because of the rich color and delicious flavor. My auto grinders work well with coarse grain. Following that, I'll purchase fine grain to use in my facial and body scrubs.
