Questions & Answers

Will it make a difference if I use Authentic Foods GF Brown Rice Flour Superfine instead of brown (or white) rice flour in a gluten-free recipe?

This is what we use to make gluten-free vanilla cakes and cupcakes. Both white and brown rice are commonly used - merely in various proportions Our batter also contains tapioca flour, which is excellent and does not produce a gritty texture.

Is "superfine" the same as "cornstarch fineness"?

Yes, it functions similarly to cornstarch, but the best part is that when rice flour is used in baking, it does not leave a grittiness.

What is the maximum number of cups you can get out of this bag?

I measured 4 cups of brown rice flour using a cup measure that I spooned and leveled. In a cup, put 5 ounces of flour. This is comparable to the weights of other flours such as wheat, spelt, and others. Your results may vary depending on humidity, how well aerated the flour is, whether it's spooned or poured into the cup measure, or scooped and leveled. In many cases, rather than using a cup measure, I've learned to weigh ingredients over the years of baking. I strongly suggest investing in a digital kitchen scale, which ensures consistency in the final product from batch to batch and makes pre-cooking much easier. To weigh out a cup of milk or 2 oz butter/margarine instead of getting another cup messy, or even to weigh envelopes for proper postage, combine flours. I use 690g Brown Rice, 230g Potato Starch, and 100g Tapioca Flour for Annalise Roberts Food Philosopher GF Brown Rice Flour Mix (6c/2c/1c ratios) and get consistently good results.

Is it okay to keep this flour in the pantry? or will I have to keep it refrigerated or frozen to keep it fresh?

It's best to keep it in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer for the longest shelf life. It will keep for a long time on the counter or in the pantry if sealed tightly to keep the freshness.

Superb, but a little pricey - Gluten-free options are ideal
4/5

Cooking and baking are both available for free. This is some excellent brown rice flour that has been superfined. I prepare a lot of gluten-free dishes. I've been looking for a brown rice flour that's as fine (or nearly as fine) as the white rice flour I get from the Asian grocery store (that stuff is so fine it feels almost like cornstarch), because the kind I have now is far too coarse and gives things a slightly gritty texture (I'm not sure the brand because I bought it a long time ago, but I believe it was Bob's Red Mill). That's unacceptable to me, so I've stayed away from brown rice flour until I can find a superfine version. Though I would never use brown rice flour exclusively in my baking, it is an important component of certain baked goods, particularly brownies, cookies, and heartier quick breads and bars. This brown rice flour is ideal, exactly what I've been looking for, and I've already put it to good use, with great success, in creating gluten-free and gluten-containing dishes. The only drawback is that it's a little pricey; I'm planning to try Anthony's Fine Brown Rice Flour soon, as it's only $12 for 5 pounds. 99 (I'll compare them and update this review once I've done so. ) I'm hoping Anthony's will come through because it's so much less expensive.

It's a good flour, but it's overpriced and packaged badly
3/5

The gluten-free mixes made by the CIA work well with this flour. a free baking recipe book It's not overly bitter or gritty, which can be an issue with brown rice. br>br>Having said that, I won't be buying it again. First and foremost, I am adamantly opposed to the use of the term "non-profit. " Labeling of genetically modified organisms At the moment, there is no GMO rice on the market. The only GMO rice is golden rice, which isn't available and wouldn't be used in this case anyway. While the labeling is accurate, it spreads the myth that GMOs are unfit for human consumption, which is completely false. This labeling is typically used as an excuse to overprice products. I'll look for a less-expensive option. Second, the bag itself is terrible. br>br>It's an expensive, less deceptively labeled brand. br>br>It's an expensive, less deceptively labeled brand. br>br> The bag has a zip closure that only opens a small portion of the top. It's impossible to get flour out of a bag without spilling it all over the place. Because the bag is made of paper on the outside, it appears to be recyclable, compostable, or landfillable, but the inside is made of plastic. I'd rather have a plain paper bag that needs to be taped shut or transferred to a storage container than this.

The best gluten-free flour ingredient! I'm still learning how to live a gluten-free life
5/5

I have MCAS/MCAD, a rare disease that causes me to be allergic or sensitive to a wide range of things. I've tried to make an AP flour substitute and discovered that the other ingredients can be pretty much any brand, but Authentic Foods Superfine Brown Rice Flour is a must-have because it's the foundation of the best flavored and textured wheat flour substitute. The amount of free AP flour is 4 C. 1 13 C. Authentic Foods superfine brown rice flour 23 degrees Celsius tapioca flour 1–2 tablespoons potato starch Xanthem Gum is a type of gum that comes from the Xanthem family Works well with biscuits, bread, pastries, cookies, and other baked goods. AP flour can be used in any recipe that calls for it.

Unusable due to rancidity
3/5

DO NOT MAKE A PURCHASE! When I first opened this flour, it had a distinct rancid odor. There was a sticker on the package that said "new. " Because there was no date on the package, the "new" label could not be verified. The flour had an odor of staleness to it. I started using it to bake sweet potato cookies in the hopes of salvaging it, but I had to throw out the cookies. I sampled a small amount and found it to be rancid and moldy in flavor. I threw out the cookies because I knew they were going to make my family sick. Returns are not accepted by this firm. It was also one of the most expensive flours, so I imagine that few people buy it, and as a result, they have old flour in stock that they call new. I'm furious about this purchase and the fact that I can't return it.

For bread, this is ideal
5/5

I used this product to make the Washington Post gluten-free crusty olive loaf, which was the best gluten-free bread I'd ever had. It had a crusty exterior and a soft interior, and I highly recommend it.
