Questions & Answers

I just wanted to make sure I understood. This bottle has a warning that it's "Watkins Original Baking Vanilla" and underneath there it says "with pure vanilla extract." How is this not ?

You are correct Lisa. If you are looking for the "Pure" Watkins Vanilla Extract 11oz, I recommend searching Amazon for "Watkins Madagascar Pure Extract" Normally, that product is more expensive, but right now is an ideal time to purchase. Thank you for taking the time to read that.

Would this be the same as the double strength "watkins original extract, baking vanilla"? The double strength has disappeared from my search engine, and I can't seem to find it. ?

There is some extract and other additives in this product, so it is not truly pure vanilla extract. Although the label is very similar to Watkins Pure Vanilla extract (both come in 11 oz bottles), this product contains some extract and There needs to be a better way to distinguish Watkins' products with the labels. For a period of about 30 days from now, Amazon used to sell pure extract for about $19 per bottle. However, this will no longer be possible since they will need

Was it the price increase that caused the product to suddenly become so expensive?

I'm not able to answer about this product specifically, but I myself wondered why pure vanilla extract quadrupled in price across the board. The more I looked into it, the more I discovered. To the best of my memory, this is a summary. One limitation of vanilla beans is that they can only be grown on a few islands around In order to produce all vanilla products, especially pure vanilla extract, they must be harvested at the right time in their lifecycle. 3) So that pure vanilla extract can ferment before it is bottled and sold, we need to harvest them at just the right time in their lifecycle. Since several years have now gone by, unusually heavy rains have plagued regions where vanilla beans are grown, late in the growth cycle, causing a major loss of crops, especially in Madagascar, but also in many other areas. The price has increased as a result of a lack of supply compared to the available demand. As a result of this supply and demand imbalance, there has been a certain degree of market manipulation by groups of investors to control the price (if vanilla were a drug, we would call these groups cartels). Honesty brings us closer to the truth. It is very likely that the problem will resolve by itself eventually (assuming that the rain seasons and growth cycles return to normal), but it could take years due to the long fermentation time of vanilla extract. In fact, some vanilla extract bottles in the last four years have been sold for more than four years. It's likely that any coffee harvested at the end of five years, regardless of brand or bean source, will be of lesser quality than before since the seeds were picked too early, and they won't have had the same amount of time to ferment as they can when there are more crops available. They are doing what they can to keep up with the demand, though this means rushing the process a bit. Here is a summary of what I hope will help.

When I select the 2 oz size, the image is different. It says artificial and natural flavors, but when I select the 11 oz size, it What are the differences between them?

It appears on the top label of the 11oz bottle that the product is all natural, though it definitely This drink consists of water, sugar, and a few other ingredients The ingredients for vanilla, which are described as water and glycerin, are listed before the ingredients for glycerin. Before vanilla beans are extracted, they are soaked in alcohol. There is a sense that I have been This seems to be a fraud.

It was disappointing to eat the As the first ingredient, water is important
3/5

It is sugar that comes second. I am to blame for propylene glycol being third. There was a chance that I hadn't checked carefully enough.

Pure Vanilla Extract is NOT suitable for this recipe
3/5

Bakery items are good, but not so much in other products. Based on the reviews and the price, I decided to purchase the product. In a way. Prices of vanilla extract have skyrocketed, making this product more expensive It is impossible not to be enticed when you see a decent, cheap, or bargain price for Clicking on a link to purchase pure vanilla extract is a bad idea if you were searching for the product. The product we received soon after we received it has given us a chance to look closer It is a more refined version of "Baking Vanilla", not a pure, ground vanilla extraction - although it claims to have "pure vanilla extract". In general, it performs fairly well - though the difference is less pronounced when it comes to baking goods than when it comes to non-baked goods When I used it in baked items like sauces or syrups, I found it provided a unique taste Baked items have more of a root-like texture I like beer The flavor of vanilla is round and warm, while the flavor of mint is more pucker-ish and slightly minty. This vanilla crisis would not have been as bad if there had been another flavor to substitute for vanilla.

There is no pure vanilla extract in this product As a flavoring, it is ineffective
3/5

I made something similar with this product, and it added little flavor to my cookies except by wasting my money for other ingredients and my time. I spent money for my other ingredients and my time for this product. There's no pure vanilla extract in it, so I'm not sure how much vanilla extract there is in there. It's listed under pure vanilla extract when you search, but it is not pure vanilla extract. There is nothing acceptable about the fact that this appeared when I searched Amazon for pure vanilla extract. In addition to the cost to me of dumping out this bottle and throwing out my batch, and the loss of my time, I am furious at both Watkins and It has been more successful to use artificial extracts than natural extracts, which will never be used by me. As for the smell, the only thing I can say is that after pouring out the entire bottle into my sink, it smelled okay.

It's my fault
3/5

When I was a kid, Watkins was a popular brand name in my household. Seeing that brand of vanilla when I was looking for a reasonably priced vanilla was what convinced me to buy It's a case of what you get for what you pay. I regret to inform you that this is the worst vanilla I have ever tasted. Despite its strong scent and flavor, it is easily identifiable. My opinion is that it does not taste like vanilla.

Glucose (Vanilla Flavored) is a misleading title
3/5

The name is deceptive Vanilla extract is not included in this bag, but it is a baking vanilla product. Ingredients The ingredients are water, glucose syrup (! ), and sugar. The other components of the formulation are propylene glycol, vanilla extract (alcohol and water, extract of vanilla beans), and alcohol. A 25 percent (! ), artificial flavors! I would say caramel. There are Sulfides in this chemical. Several members in my family are diabetic, so I am unable to use this glucose product. It will take me a while to find a use for an old dusty bottle, but I expect it to be sitting around for quite a while.

My favorite Watkins products are those made by the company
3/5

The product that I was hoping to enjoy from Watkins did not meet my expectations. What an awful thing to do. When I bought the item, it was in September 2017 Although the reviews were bad, I stayed because the price was right (Vanilla was extremely expensive a few years ago and I felt that I didn't have to splurge). As soon as I opened it, the smell of cheapness was overwhelming. Since purchasing imitation vanilla, I’ve used it in baking and I detected that it completely changed the taste of the food. I wasn’t aware of what imitation vanilla smelled like before, but this is what I thought it would smell like. Even when I cut it in half, I can still taste the vanilla. I've tried to like it so much that I've tried it about 15 times, but I'm just not able to continue. I don't like the taste because it's too chemical. This is not something I would recommend.

It is AWFUL to have such an odd taste! Vanilla flavor does NOT come from pure vanilla beans
3/5

A part of what makes it up is that. There is more mention of glycol than vanilla in this product. I don't like the flavor of this vanilla and think it's unacceptable. One of my large families noticed something strange about my desserts at a Thanksgiving dinner early this year. They wanted to know why the taste was different.

Vanilla is the only brand The label has changed and the name has changed
5/5

The following warning applies Please do not be alarmed if you receive a different label than the double strength label for this item. Will be renamed baking vanilla, so do not be alarmed if you receive a different label than the double strength label. I used to sell Watkin's products years ago when my grandmother, mother and I used to use it! The 11oz size of the Vanilla Original Double Strength I ordered was because my personal sales rep just retired, and I did not have a local rep to handle my order. It was a fair price on Amazon, and the seller was My shock at seeing a different label and name for this product after using it all my life was enormous. Upon seeing the label, I turned right to Watkins to ask for clarification. According to the representative, it was the name, not the ingredients that would be changed, so the new label was necessary. The official explained to me that not all of their stock had been emptied at one of the main warehouses yet, so there are still a few old labels circulating, but I am confident that my item is the new label and completely true and safe! Her response was that I feel the new label should be in the stock ad on Amazon, or at least advise customers about the change by adding a disclaimer that they should look for the new label. Despite the fact that I was expecting a fraudulent product, there is an element of strength that I really appreciate about it. Baked goods will not have this product coming out of them. There is a very strong taste to the food.
This is the best vanilla I have ever used. It says you can use very little, however I love the taste and used a minimum of 1 capful per recipe. Compare is not the same! The products and extracts of this brand are also exclusively used by my adult children! bought this item for full price. Mine are my own opinions, and I don't get paid for them! Based on personal experience, these are the opinions I have.
