I've never been disappointed by a Krusteaz product, and the batter mixes, unlike their pancake and waffle mixes, have very little flavor on their own. I coat and deep fry just about everything, and it can taste like whatever spice I want or just soak up the flavor of whatever is inside. Then, to save on oil, I finish them in the air fryer. I suppose I could make a similar mix by mixing flour and baking powder together, but as long as Krusteaz is around, they can do it for me. It comes highly recommended!.
While living in Alaska, I learned to prepare salmon and halibut with Krusteaz batter. When using Krusteaz with fresh out-of-the-can beer, It's impossible to visit Alaska without drinking Alaskan water. In Tennessee, I've discovered that it tastes just as good on freshwater bass and trout. It is, however, difficult to come by! So - In Alaska, I had to order it through Amazon, and I'm doing the same thing here. Excellent value for money, excellent packaging, and prompt delivery.
Krusteaz used to be one of my favorites 17 years ago, and I've never had a problem with it. The batter is no longer mixing well, and the mixture has begun to settle. The last time I tried it, I used it to make onion rings, but they didn't turn out well. Krusteaz had to be used three times before the batter coating stayed on. I'm hoping it's the same Krusteaz from before. The remainder will be thrown away. I'm back to making Tempura Batter from scratch.
Krusteaz items never let you down! This product has a delicious flavor and is simple to use. We used it to deep fry chicken breasts, asparagus, onion rings, and shrimp as part of our deep fry project. It's delicious! I would strongly suggest it.
My first box was purchased to try out a recipe. I've discovered a slew of other uses for it since making this recipe. Because this recipe makes a batter, I gave it three stars for warmth and thickness. The amount of liquid you use controls the thickness of the batter, and I assume the temperature of the liquid controls the warmth. It makes a delicious onion ring and vegetable batter. It's a lighter batter this time. I strongly advise you to do so.
I contacted the company, and I was thrilled to receive it today, so I made some sweet and sour chicken. I've never had all of the children who tried my food say the same thing: it had a foul taste and was disgusting. I've been cooking temperature for a long time, so I know how to use it. I know to keep the batter cold, and I know to note that the meat is cold before putting it in the batter to help the batter stick. I know all of these steps, and the temperature to cook it at, and so on, but this just came out terrible.
Simple to work with. Aside from shrimp (16-ounces), we had a family night. 20s) and sea scallops (yum yum yum yum yum yum yum ), each person brought a vegetable they were interested in trying: The mushrooms were incredible, as were the onions, bell peppers, cauliflower, and broccoli. Celery isn't my favorite vegetable, and I had to pre-cook baby carrots. To my taste, it should be steamed. Overall, it was an excellent meal. Make up your own story. Use ice cold seltzer water rather than plain ice water for a 'lighter' coating.
It's perfect for my FryDaddy fryer. I've been using Krusteaz for years in other fryers. Krusteaz is a fantastic product; I live alone, so this is a large quantity for me, but I simply repackage it into three or four smaller plastic bags and store it in the refrigerator, where it lasts "forever. " " It's also convenient that all you need to do is add water and it's ready. I strongly advise you to read it.
