I believe this product needs to be refrigerated at all times. Within seconds of opening it, its strength begins to ebb away. A summer is hot for 2 months, then it becomes mild after 3 months. That is, at least, how I experienced it. My usual method of avoiding letting it sit around for too long is to keep it moving. It might help if you read this.

It has been my pleasure to serve this brand of horseradish in my restaurants for many It has been mildly preferred by some customers, hot for others, and straight for the most daring. To create your own taste, blend it with your favorite cocktail sauce/ketchup or sour cream. I don't mean to sound like a commercial, but in this case, if it's not Atomic, it's not horseradish!.
After receiving the product, I smelled it within the first minute of opening the jar, and it was a product I could see myself leaving a 5-star rating for. The product received a five-star review soon after it was tried. After learning of the ingredients on the label, I immediately fell into shock. What on earth is the need for artificial flavoring in horseradish? My order of synthetic chemicals would be made in China if I wanted them in my life. Although the product seems OK, I don't know what it is like in its natural form since this ingredient was unnecessarily added by the producer. Because of this unknown taste and smell, I have no idea what this product is like as it is processed artificially. A powerful additive like this can have a significant impact on how the final product actually feels. *b/*br/*b I try very hard to keep garbage out of my home, and I would have trashed this horseradish if it contained any KNOWN harmful ingredients. It's true I'm not going to reorder, no matter how good it might seem with artificial ingredients in it.

I mistakenly put my nose too close to the jar, giving me a burning and taking away my breath when I opened it. The thought came to my mind that my husband would took a tablespoon of the coleslaw and tasted it. It was very spicy at first, but then the burn went away immediately and the flavor that was left was amazing! I enjoyed it so much! We left Santa Barbara for our hometown, and on the way back I checked Amazon at check to see if we could order it there and have it shipped to our home in Western New York, since I knew that it was not available there. The good news is that I did find it and Atomic now remains in my fridge! There's also a cold pack included with the product. I only dislike the fact that the cold pack is not frozen by the time it reaches my house. It would be wonderful if the company could expedite shipments during warm weather or add extra cold packs when I order in the middle of the summer.
The stuff I've been getting lately is wonderful. The first time I had Atomic Horseradish was with oysters on the half shell at a restaurant. Once hooked, I had to keep watching. To keep in the house, I had to have some. In the local stores, you had hit and miss results. A small jar is usually all they carry. My search for something like this ended here. I just want to let the seller know about this. My order for this month has been placed. I noticed that USPS has replaced UPS as the carrier since my last order. The horseradish flavor is not good. Horseradish with a lot of kick! To go atomic you need TNT! Trying to buy hotter horseradish over the years has been a struggle because it is always so hard to get it fresh, to store/ship it with a cool and fresh environment all the way to my fridge. It appears that TNT got the Atomic batch right this time! This Batch is hotter , more stable , and holds it's heat longer than any other batch I've purchased from various resellers in the past.
