My stomach was upset after eating there. MELT FOOD POISONING IN MY MOUTH! I really did not want to write this review, but it is vital for me to do so. At the Holidays, I love mincemeat tarts or pies, but it is either just me or nobody else at home likes them. In the past, I have made my own mincemeat, but this year I did not want to go through all of that again. While I was trying to decide whether I would order them over what they were preserved in, the company assured me that they knew what they were I had one the day the movers arrived, and the next day I was hit with the worst nausea I've ever had. I saw the connection, but did not make it. After the second (they were refrigerated when they arrived), had one the next week, and again seemed to be hit with vomiting, but that was on the day after Thanksgiving, so I did not see The night before two days ago, I ate nothing all day, and I had two tarts in the evening. At the end of the day, I had nothing left. A full 12 hours later, I'm at the bathroom again. When I realized this, I felt a sense of cause and effect. It's difficult to send my MIL an entire Mince Pie just because she keeps grabbing a larger slice. The Walker Miniature Pies are even worse since they are more crust than Mince filling and it's the baking powder and salt she needs In the packaging they come in or in a Ziplock Freezer Bag, mom freezes these right in the box. It takes her about an hour to defrost one overnight or she gently warms it in the toaster oven when she needs one. The minute you poke a fork into the pie filling, you will be burned, as the pie filling is gelatonous, and if you microwave these, please be VERY careful because the pie crust may be warm, but the filling can burn your skin when poked. Mom and I prefer to gently warm these in the oven or toaster oven on a cookie sheet or on a metal toaster oven In traditional diner cultures, a brandy based Hard Sauce is served on top. Walker has this as well. In case you're looking to avoid the sugary, alcohol-laden sort, you might want to try the Basically, Vanilla ice-cream is just as nice as whipped cream, but it does not go as well with the whipped cream because it is a two-in-one mix. Whenever I was a kid, my mom always made mincemeat pies from the jar for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and they were always my favorite. So I thought I'd try these tarts. *First of all, they were very quick in getting to our house. Delivery was scheduled between 12 noon and 3 pm today so I got them today The 29th to the 1st This is not something to complain about. As far as service is concerned, the seller is top-notch. *Edit I've changed my mind about these tarts since I wrote my first review. After microwaving the first couple, I realized that the only correct way to prepare them for consumption is by baking them according to As the crust becomes crispier by crystallizing the sugar, as well as the mincemeat filling tastes better, this approach is a much better method for making the crust (which is good even when microwaved). Growing up I ate mincemeat pie for Christmas dinner prepared by my mum, so finding the tarts was really exciting for me. As far as the crust was concerned, it was rather like shortbread. My memories of the mincemeat are not as vivid as I remember them, and I would have liked to have a little more filling in it. I was pleasantly surprised to receive the tarts earlier than I had expected due to the fact that they had been shipped from England. The tarts were in great shape. The remaining three I ate with vanilla ice cream a la mode, and the three that were left I frozen. My overall opinion of the tarts is highly favorable. It brings back memories of Christmas as a child.
" It brought back memories of the Christmas dinners at my grandparents' house back in the 1960s as my mother, who is 91, made turkey breast and squashed potatoes with thyme and ginger. Even though they were delicious, the only thing they lacked was the brandy that my Grandma would add to the mincement since she wasn't a rum ball fan. I give Walkers five stars! We enjoyed our Christmas dinner prepared by them before they arrived as advertised.
