Questions & Answers

Is it possible to convert analog audio input to digital audio output with this device?

The SB2. 0 Audio Recording Card - Is this device capable of converting analog audio input to digital audio output? Jesse Gibson asked on January 17, 2017br> br>The USB2. 0 Audio Capture is a program that converts analog audio into a digital audio file.

Is the Lame program included with the Audacity software, allowing wave files to be converted to mp3?

This system is essentially a sound recording and conversion system. As a result, any device you use to record from this software will capture it and convert it to MP3 format. Just make sure you choose the right type of conversion. (For example, record to MP3, convert WAV to MP3, and so on.)

What goes where and how does it work?

Consider the following scenario: usb2. 0 connects to a computer, while white and red audio connect to a DVD player, and 3 connects to a television. The cassette recorder accepts a 5mm audio plug.

Is this compatible with USB 3.0?

I'm not sure, but I believe the USB 3.0 standard is the best option. Devices that use USB 2 would be backwards compatible with 0 as well. My personal experience has taught me that mastering your PC and the software you'll use to record the audio (I used GarageBand on my MAC PC) is the most difficult and time-consuming aspect of the process. Best of luck!

It is simple to use
5/5

This device is excellent for converting cassette tapes to MP3 files. It's ready to use right out of the box. In other words, you won't have to install a driver because Windows will do it for you once you plug it into a USB port; you'll know it's connected when the blue LED on the Digital Audio Capture Card starts flashing. I tested this device on both an ASUS laptop and a Dell (Alienware) laptop, and it worked perfectly on both. br>br>Audacity, the audio editing software included with the capture card, is on a mini disk. If you don't have a disk player, you can get this free software from the Audacity website; in fact, the software on the disk is an older version, so you'll want to get it from the website anyway. A user manual is available on both the included disk and the website, which you can download to your computer. The Audacity software is easy to use, and if you get stuck, you can refer to the manual or watch one of the many YouTube videos available. This device worked fine with Adobe Audition audio editing software, and it will be recognized as "Microphone Array (USB PnP Audio Device)" by Audacity and other audio editing software. br>br>I used a cassette deck and connected it to the audio capture card via the two RCA phono plugs; depending on your device, you can also use the included headphone jack; however, if you use a headphone jack on a portable cassette player or boom box, the volume on your boom box will affect the input level going to the software recording. The RCA phono output jacks are referred to as "line outputs," and they are not adjustable. As a result, I didn't have to be concerned about the volume being too loud or too quiet. I recommend using a cassette player with line outputs. br>br>Each recording is treated as a project, allowing you to edit after each recording (song), such as removing silent intros and endings. To put it another way, you don't have to worry about timing the playback of your cassette deck with the recording of your software: After the song has been recorded, you can clean it up. You export your project (song) to the type of file you want once you've got it the way you want it. wav or . MP3. So far, I've only completed one cassette. I made a folder out of all of the MP3 files on the cassette, and then imported it into iTunes. This Digital Audio Capture Card is an excellent investment.

It's not ideal for recording from LPs
3/5

Although the product description for this (ahem) "capture card" claims that it can "convert old collection of cassettes, vinyl records, and LPs into crisp, clear digital audio files," VTOP support staff told me that "the USB Audio Grabber does not work with Turntable very well even with Amplifier. " "br>br>My question to the VTOP support staff was about why the Audacity recording volume slider had no effect when I was recording through this device via the RCA inputs, with the recorded audio peaked at - I wanted to record with peaks between - and 12 db, so I set the volume to 12 db. 6 and - For the extra headroom, add 4 decibels. The VTOP support staff, to their credit, took the time to understand my question and responded thoughtfully, even offering to refund the item. br>br>At this point, the device appears to be functional. Apart from the recording level issue, I noticed that the unit doesn't seem to capture frequencies above about 13 kHz. br>br>I was able to record audio into Audacity, and the unit is very inexpensive. br>br>In addition to the recording level issue, I noticed that the unit doesn't seem to capture frequencies above about 13 kHz. br>br>In the end, I recorded my LPs on a Behringer UFO202. It's more expensive, but I have more control over the recording levels than with the VTOP unit, and it captures higher frequencies better.
