CDs are held as promised by the product, and I like its look. It's a big disappointment, though, because the product is not in good condition. In general, everything is fine. There are a couple places in each crate where the metal mesh sticks up and doesn't go smooth around the top edges, but otherwise, everything seems to work well. If you hold it in your hand or snag it with your fabric, it will cut you.
My only complaint is that I thought it was a bit pricey for what it is, but we have a large cabinet on either side of our microwave and I thought this organizer was the perfect addition. have a good build to them.
I bought these for my daughter's large collection of CDs because they are just the right size and shape. It was a common sight to find CD cases strewn about her room because she is developmentally delayed and cannot manage electronic music.
