Questions & Answers

When a remote is used with the TV behind the stick, will it work?

Yes, of course! A HDMI connection to your TV and a wireless remote control are all you need to use this player. You do not need direct line-of-sight in order to use the RF remote because it uses wireless interference from the HDMI connector. You have a look at the However, we do offer HDMI extension cables for those users who may experience issues using the remote control. You can learn more about our services by visiting our website.

You say you can stream cable to TVs in other rooms, but is that possible?

I was told by my cable provider Xfinity that I should keep my main box but get a Roku for additional TVs this fall. I have saved my 7 times. The additional cost per box is 95 dollars. All my shows are still available, I can stream them, and I can even watch them recorded. There is one thing that I don't like about Roku you cannot fast-forward through commercials, you have to watch carefully.

A word of caution to the buyer Take a moment to read the following before making a purchase
3/5

MAKE SURE YOU ARE A WISE BUYER My first Roku players arrived in August 2012, then in May 2015, then I bought a Stream Stick+ in the summer of Whenever I had issues "activating" my new Streaming Stick+, the phone number for "Contact Support Toll Free to Activate Instantly" was given to me. After contacting the number, the representative told me I would have to pay $70 to activate my third Roku device due to the fact that I already owned two. You must pay $99 to be a PREMIUM member. They ignored my request for a PREMIUM account as I neither needed nor wanted it. When I called customer service, I requested that she deactivated the first Roku I purchased in 2012 on my account and I would only have 2 registered devices. According to what I was told I would have to pay the toll at least if (1) I deactivated any previous Roku player or (2) if I opened a new account. I need to pay $9. 99 in order to register my Streaming Stick+. In that way, Roku rewards its loyal subscribers who return each month Customers who are first-time customers will be charged a fee of $70. 00. You will have to spend an additional $. 00 to activate more than two The device itself is still not free. You will now have to pay an additional $70 in addition to that. To use it, you have to pay $0. 00! hope this review will alert potential buyers to Roku's new policy of rewarding repeat purchasers in the future. I am Patti.

My Roku device is being held hostage by technical support
3/5

The item is being returned to you! As soon as we purchased this Roku Streaming Stick+, we assumed all we had to do was plug it in and follow the I don't think so! A Samsung Smart tv with numerous HDMI ports is in our house. The update would not load on our Stick after trying ALL of them! Every time we tried to play the game, we received My online chat with "Ray" lasted for a good while. It was stated to me that I would have to pay Tech support $69 in order to update the Stick+. According to him, there have been too many errors updating the company's products over the past year, so the company has decided that customers cannot update their new devices on their own, and must now hire someone to do it for them. Nowhere in the reviews I read did anyone mention that I would have to pay $69 to use this device! So here I have a brand new device that costs $65, and Roku wants to hold it hostage to make it useless unless I pony up $69 for an update. I'd get 6 months free tech support if I paid $69 for it! We're not going to do that. My relationship with this company has ended. I will never do business with them The company is charging for technical support on a brand new device which they are woefully out of their depth.

Changing to Atari VCS to get a fully featured PC, video streamer, and gaming console for television
3/5

I EDITED The Atari VCS is my first video streaming device since I am tired of the limitations of Roku and the other popular video streaming devices, which either lack a web browser or have a poorly functioning one. As a fully functional Linux based computer with a full video streamer, gaming console, web browser and more, you'll be able to do it all directly I wanted that and it's exactly what I got. Roku has been a part of my life for years. I have several The following points should be taken into consideration when deciding on which model of Roku to purchase 1). If you need to connect to the internet over WiFi in a remote area, I would recommend the Roku Streaming Stick PLUS or the 2)If you have a 4K TV, I recommend the Roku Streaming Stick PLUS or Roku Ultra. In addition to 4K, the Premiere 2018 model also plays HD.

3) To search for content with your voice, choose from either the Streaming Stick, Streaming Stick PLUS, Additionally, all 3 models are equipped with a remote control that can be used to control the volume and power of You can also use the Roku app on Android and iOS A Roku app that lets you use your iPhone/iPad to control any Roku device as well as access your Roku content via your mobile device You can use the on-screen keyboard to search. *4) The Roku Ultra has a wired ethernet connection, so if you want that feature, choose it. 5 ) If you want to connect to an old TV with RCA or Composite audio/video jacks, you will need the Express PLUS. 6 )The Express and the Amp will work together. As opposed to the older models of Roku, the Premiere 2018 models come with remote controls that do not require a sensor to point at the device. There is one major issue I have with Roku (and other streaming devices) which is the lack of a fully functional web browser. My television has always been connected to the internet, so surfing the internet on it is nothing new to me. It seems ridiculous that an internet connection TV does not allow surfing the internet, forcing one to use yet another internet connected device on the TV. Even though I am aware that smartphones, PCs, and tablets can mirror the screen somewhat, I find that a poor excuse to not have a web browser integrated. I and many others who send and/or type a lot of messages and/or emails prefer typing on a wireless keyboard to using a phone, tablet, or remote.
