Questions & Answers

What are the specifications of the Apple TV 4K 32GB? Does Amazon Prime work on it?

Without a doubt. Using the Amazon Prime app and Netflix app every evening is recommended. Apps such as Amazon and Netflix aren't as good as Smart TV apps

Connecting to the Internet isn't difficult, but how hard is it?

The process of connecting is not difficult at all. Power is obtained by plugging the cord After that, plug in an HDMI cable from your TV to the port on the AppleTV . In my case, I just used the HDMI cable I had connected to my Fire TV.

Content that Can Be Delivered in a Flexible Box
4/5

Does Apple TV 4K make sense for you? Are you using a 4K TV that supports HDR? Can you bring your own 4K TV? Is your internet connection over 30 Mbit/s? Do you primarily use iOS for your mobile devices? Is it common for you to purchase a significant amount of content from In that case, I think that you will find the Apple TV to be a competent and occasionally gratifying streaming device that takes advantage of Possibly a cheaper, more versatile device is available that might meet your needs Since the original silver box Apple TV, I've owned all the generations of Apple TV, and the Apple TV 4K is the main streaming device for my 4K TV, the This particular Apple TV has been in my possession for 3 months going on 4 months, so I am able to give a proper review of it. Since nearly all content is streamed (you can get DVR apps, but they are very limited), games with large assets would use more space. Although I bought the 64GB version, it was to help me foresee the future. The majority of people will be pleased with the 32GB version as well. In addition to announcing the availability of 4K movies, Apple also announced that existing purchases would be upgraded to 4K at no additional charge. Older films I had already purchased like The Princess Bride and James Bond movies have suddenly shown up in this format. By adjusting the tvOS settings to match the content frame rate and the HDR settings, older movies seem to function much better, especially when HDR is used. Film movies of the vintage era offer a vibrant viewing experience because of the black levels and popping colors, as well as the absence of judder from frame conversions. A downside of switching the TV display mode is that it results in a frustrating couple of seconds of black screen as any video playback begins and stops. Especially if your TV supports HDR, the improvement in catalog titles -and this applies to movies I've seen hundreds of times - can be astounding. It was a surprise to me that movies like Ghostbusters (1984) had such a fresh appearance. Due to the fact that my TV supports Dolby Vision, and that recent iTunes movies are typically encoded with this advanced HDR format, I am prepared to see the Dolby Vision tag when I switch on the TV. I'm not sure the human eye can even process the large amount of data that modern movies are putting forth, like La La Land. It's a must to check out a new OLED screen if you have one. In an attempt to satisfy my curiosity, I purchased the UHD Blu-ray A comparison was made between the Blu-ray version and the iTunes 4K Dolby Vision version of Justice League. As a beginner, I was curious as to what I was missing when it came to streaming I switched back and forth between the disc and download versions, and at first I thought the disc version was cleaner, but soon found there was little difference between the two. It was great to see them both. In addition, there is a scene midway through the movie where my UHD Blu-ray player I discovered that my LG UHD player locks up causing me to scrubbing through a movie a lot faster on my Apple TV than I could on my Blu-ray My preference for online movies is convenience and lower cost, and even if the quality improved barely, I'm not likely to buy another UHD disc. In the months that I have used the service, I have only paused for buffering a handful of times and at this writing I have 30 MBit fiber service to my home. 4K movies start streaming within seconds most every time and I have not faced any delays. It is necessary to update some apps. As an example, I use an over-the-air DVR application (MythTV) that is showing signs of poor frame rate conversions and ugly color matching as soon as I activate content matching. When I play my 1080i content using the DLNA app built into my TV, it looks great. The page will be updated soon, I hope. With tvOS 12, Apple finally delivers on its promise to offer the high end audio system Dolby Atmos to a wide variety of movies pre-encoded using the high quality audio system. In keeping with my self-centered nature, I spent some time crawling through my attic installing a pair of affordable ceiling speakers and wiring them into the receiver of my AV system. Although it is a nice improvement, it is not spectacular. As the Dolby demo app on my LG TV illustrates, height speakers are capable of achieving very interesting effects, but actual movies will show less of those In the past few weeks, I've listened to a number of iTunes movies encoded with Atmos Among the latest movies are Lego Batman, Ready Player One, and Spiderman I am homecoming, Justice League is on, and Earth is in The listener and I enjoyed One Amazing Day, but I noticed the ceiling speakers don't produce much sound, which might be due to technical limitations Most of the time, it's just the background music or a bit of echoes. How does it compare to what we had before? In fact, yes. My ceiling is now less imperfect because I spent $120 and an afternoon modifying it. In fact, yes. This spectacular city is home to a The change in my perspective of cinema is due to its weirdness? Not at all. a nice value addition. Since Apple provides an App Platform, iOS apps can run on TvOS as well as iOS apps - I have not modified the majority of my own app's code for I am running my own app The tvOS platform is not technically prohibitive, therefore developers should not ignore it The process has not exactly been a gold rush, and some corporate goals are at odds. There has been friction between Apple and Google over the VP9 codec, so you can't find the highest possible quality YouTube content. And it took years for Amazon to introduce their version of Prime Video (which is actually pretty mediocre). It is noteworthy that the Apple TV version of the Amazon Prime Video app provides the same high quality sound as the embedded version on my TV, as well as spectacular visuals such as the stunning cars displayed in The Grand Tour on the screen. I am amazed. This collection of video streaming apps has proved useful to me There are local area streamers such as Tablo DVR apps and live TV "Channels" that are able to pull content from devices on my network, as well as streaming services such as Hulu, Netflix, iTunes, Amazon Video, VRV, and SlingTV. The fact that more and more services are allowing their content to be gathered into a centralized TV system is a good thing A mobile application The content I'm looking for is in one place, so I don't have to spend time looking through different apps. Movies Anywhere allows users who purchase content through Amazon, Vudu, or Google Play to create an account, download the free app, and watch content that isn't on these platforms It's easy to access iTunes content on the Apple TV (as well as getting some free movies). As a Game Machine, there are a wide variety of games, my family especially enjoys Just Dance, which can be controlled by the accelerometer on the Siri remote. And I have a couple of gamepads that allow me to play games like Asphalt 8. While Apple TV is not as competitive as PlayStation or Xbox when it comes to gaming, it does have a few shortcomings.

The Remote The Apple TV remote is cumbersome and sometimes irritating when it comes to simple functions like showing closed captions There are several deficiencies with this stream, which is why I gave it four stars rather than five. I've found having Siri do things for me most of the time is fun, and if you get into the habit of having Siri do things for you, it can be quite helpful. There is an affordance of a white ring around the menu button on the 4K version of this remote that makes it much easier to discern which end is which. Among the features I enjoy most about the remote are the volume buttons Whatever I've thrown at it, they are able to handle There are various Bluetooth headphones on my receiver, the speakers in my TV, and the speakers in my TV. Siri is one of my favorite features for turning off devices that are powered by HomeKit. In order to turn off the lights in the basement or turn down the AC in the guest room just before bed, I will tell it to turn them off. In terms of interacting with other devices, I have a new Yamaha 4K Home Theatre Receiver and have been satisfied with how waking the Apple TV will wake the receiver over HDMI and wake the TV, and also how the TV remote can control the Apple TV using HDMI as well. This makes it less desirable to have a universal remote control. To listen to music at night, I've also been pleased with using Bluetooth headphones that can be easily paired. My opinion is that this is superior to the cable connection attached to the remote of the Roku. I have also discovered that my TV supports Bluetooth headphone pairing, which is even better because I can hear all the sounds, not just the ones that come from Using an inexpensive Bluetooth keyboard, searches and password entry can be greatly facilitated, or even better, the iPhone remote app can be used. The HDMI integration also worked with the new Denon and Sony receivers I have tested. It took me some time to realize that by using a shorter (1 ft) HDMI cable, I was able to connect the Apple TV to my receiver without any lip syncing or sparkle issues. In other words, a one It is important to me that devices come with Ethernet ports, as I believe in the old adage that if you have a wire, there is no In spite of that, it does support modern WiFi when required. In the case of an Apple TV, which can act as the central hub for the HomeKit home automation ecosystem, you can really dive deep into the Apple ecosystem. My iPhone allows me to control light switches, fans, and my thermostat as well as find out the temperature of my various rooms. Ancient AirPlay is also handy for quickly pulling up content from your phone, such as sharing a YouTube video. In order to keep pace with my son's computer classroom homework, I read it to him using Airplay, so we can both comfortably read it on the big screen while he is editing it. tvOS has been extremely reliable for the past several versions, but occasional reloading of apps may be required. There are no guarantees that it will happen every day or every week, In comparison to the previous versions, this contains a better processor than the Apple TV 4, but I can't say that it is any smoother than what was already smooth, and if you don't have a 4K TV with HDR, I doubt you will notice any difference. As far as functionality is concerned, Apple TV 4 is exactly the same as Further beyond that, the older generations show signs of aging and the 3rd generation has lagged performance and the 2nd generation has crashed repeatedly. There are no USB ports on the 4K, so you'll need to get used to remote debugging if you're creating apps. I like the Apple TV 4K. Summary The Apple TV 4K is impressive. The streaming device is great and does everything I need from a streamer, but I wish Apple wasn't so pricey. I use it everyday in many ways, and I wish Apple wasn't it.

It is for Applephiles who have received a 4KTV and are now purchasing Since Apple TV has become so integral to our experience in our house a few years ago, the apple TV box has become an integral part of the As for my complaint, it's that I wasn't yet using a 4k version of my box, since I had just upgraded from the third to the fourth generation
5/5

That wasn't a big deal until we upgraded to a 4k TV soon after. At that point, I had no choice but to spend big bucks on a 4K As there are various detailed reviews here covering all the features, I won't repeat them here. All I will say is that you will need high speed internet and the correct HDMI cables (HDCP 2). There are two types of HDMI 2 ARC and The smallest is 0 Gbit, while the largest is 18 Gbit). HDMI cables are highly necessary for 4k viewing, otherwise you will not be able to enjoy all that 4K offers, for instance A 60 Hz signal is required for Dolby Vision or 4KHDR. The LG 65" 4kHD LED/LCD TV, Yamaha 4k pass through receiver, and a 5. 9" computer are the components in our setup. The system consists of one home theater speaker. In addition to AppleTV, the Firestick and BluRay DVD player are peripheral devices. The Wi-Fi meets all the requirements of high speed, and everything can talk to each other. Each remote is automatically programmed to run each other device and the Apple remote is not an exception. The fact is, 4k video is simply striking, and I can't imagine how they can improve upon it short of beaming signals directly to the cortex one day! You can sign up for Apple services already if you already have one I know you know, you just have to plug this thing in and it will set up by itself in a matter of seconds. All you need to do is run the software updates and your 4K settings will be set as you like. There's no way to make it any You can download apps from the App Store after you buy a 4th generation box Many free and some paid. I don't do as much gaming as I would like, but it is able to accommodate that. You probably already know what you want if you're here reading this, so I'll just close this with the opinion that you should Recently, I and my family cut the cord, and our 4K Apple box combined with an HD OTA antenna is the key to that endeavor. There is nothing we would rather have done. *PLEASE NOTE*PLEASE NOTE I've gone through a few months and have been doing well. Please be informed that my LG TV has some of the same apps as the Apple Box, and I find they are much more stable using the Apple device. YouTube TV in particular, can be wonky when using the LG app, but works perfectly using the Apple TV. Let's give this bonus point one more try! The following edit was made My post appears to have received a lot of comments I doubt are credible. It's lame to not be able to search for products on Amazon by using Google. I don't know who to blame. In that case, it would appear to be a scam product, which Apple's products are much from being. I've had this box for two years now, and nothing has gone wrong. When I first bought it, I liked it as much as now. You should ignore all of these b's. Please fill in the comments box.

It's wonderful to no longer have to buffer! There are about three models of Roku, and one Amazon Fire all have the same issue - the IR transmitter doesn't work on any of them
5/5

The buffer is constantly being filled. If it is a crucial part of your favorite show or a critical football game, this will make you want to rip it out of the wall and throw it out the window. Apple TV, in my opinion, blows them out of the water. This is extremely fast and has no buffering issues when using it. It is certainly more expensive than other options, but it is certainly worth saving up the pennies to get it!.
