Questions & Answers

Is the access card included in this?

YES, THE ACCESS CARD IS SEALED AND BRAND NEW! The only thing missing from the receiver are two B band convertors. Some people still have old dishes that require them, but if you have a SWM SWITCH, you won't require them.

Is it possible to add the receivers to another person's account with a new access card if they have already been approved by Directv?

If the receiver was purchased rather than leased, then yes. DTV can run a search and tell you if you have the receiver ID before you buy it. Make sure to look for receiver ID on both a personal and a business level.

Will this work with accounts that have been tampered with? I'm looking for a friend. ?

If you mean a subscribed to account by someone outside of the United States, it will work fine as long as you don't connect the box to the internet or plug a phone line into it. Any of the directv box's features that require an internet or phone connection will be unavailable to you. I know several Canadians who have successfully subscribed to Directv using an American address.

Is this receiver compatible with a portable king dish for rvs, cars, and trucks?

Yes, but I'm not sure if that dish can handle high-definition signals. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get anything other than a standard definition.

It is not possible to activate! I went to activate it, which was called Direct TV, because it was nice and clean
3/5

"Can't activate this because the previous owner was supposed to turn it in," I was told. Lesson learned: don't buy used from Amazon. It's possible that it's stolen gear. br>Now I have to go through the process of reclaiming my funds. whoopie! I've got a few hours to waste while waiting on hold and jumping through hoops. In any case, I have access to a television set.

3/5

I marked one because I had to, but I should have marked none because the equipment was in open box, the remote was used, the memory card was used, and in general it was a very bad experience, and the person who sold the equipment gave me all kinds of excuses, but in the end I had to lose the money because she refused to accept the equipment back, which was bad news; this is the first time this has happened to me with Amazon, and I am sorry to write this, but this is the truth and the woe.

This is a fantastic DVR
5/5

My HR24s are fantastic. They are extremely useful. I can record in one room while keeping an eye on things in another. I have two DVRs, so I can record four shows at once and watch them on either. They've been providing consistent service for over a year. They are significantly faster than previous DirecTV receivers, which had become noticeably sluggish as a result of the new software. These scan the guide much faster and respond to button presses much more quickly. The real trick is to get them here rather than from DirecTV. You won't be able to get an HR24 through DirecTV. No matter what the person on the other end of the line says, an HR24 cannot be guaranteed. When the wrong unit is delivered, they will apologize profusely, but they will try to keep you with it in the end. Buy it here if you want to be sure you're getting the right item. br>br>As a valued customer who has paid $250 per month for half a decade, I rarely pay for my DirecTV equipment, at least not since the TIVO debacle. If they want to keep my money, they can provide me with the necessary equipment, but how did I get it for free here? After talking with DirecTV for a long time and trying to get HR24's shipped, I suggested to the rep that I buy the DVRs online and have them reimburse me or credit my account for the cost. They agreed, and once activated, they followed through. Now, I can't guarantee that this will work for you, but it did for me. br>br>It turns out that the price here was lower than the price of the units direct from DirecTV, so it's a better deal in any case, and you know exactly what you're getting. A brand new HR24 that hasn't spent any time in someone else's smoky living room.

DVR that can be used as a replacement for a HD DVR
4/5

I replaced an older Directv receiver with this newer model, and it has worked flawlessly so far, aside from the usual Directv software being slow, especially because they are constantly updating the software with meaningless features that some more powerful computers would struggle to run. The parent company that feeds the programming and services that cause the glitches is what keeps this device from being a five star device, not the seller or the equipment. So, if you're looking for a replacement HD DVR, here's one that will perform to its full potential despite being tripped by Directv's faulty software update. br>br>I'm curious if Directv has a Quality Assurance team that tests their software before it is released to the public.

When I had DTV, it was really nice
5/5

Pro: It's a perfect solution.
Bad: You must use DTV to complete this task. br>br>I am not a fan of Direct Television. I prefer Verizon/FiOS and have finally made the switch, despite having to pay an early termination fee to get off of DTV. This box, on the other hand, did a great job. I had to restart it every now and then, but it usually worked. There was some kind of electronic device that broke down on me. But, after a day and $10, my DTV service was up and running, not because of DTV troubleshooting, but because the electronic device was required to power up the coax lines that feed these devices. The Amazon Prime service is INCREDIBLE! You can choose between these and the newer Genie if you ever want to upgrade from SD to HD. You'll get whatever DTV has on the truck if you don't request something else. Best wishes to you. You don't own it, so you'll have to come back when you're done with DTV. You will be renting unless you spend $500 on one of these. When I purchased two new HD televisions and upgraded from SD receivers two months into a contract renewal, DTV did not assist us. This effectively extended our contract by two months, which is why I had to pay to get out when the new renewal was even worse than the previous ones. My advice is as follows: Get one if you're in need of one.
