First of all, I purchased this to add my fourth TV to my existing Directv service. Please be aware that adding equipment or any other equipment configuration will automatically renew your Directv service contract for 2 years. In your contract, it is clearly stated that you will receive another 2 years of Directv service from the point that you activate the new Genie box. However, the Directv service representative on the phone with you while activating the box will not inform you of this. In addition, when I end my Directv service, they will claim the box is property of Directv and become part of the list of equipment to be returned, regardless of whether I bought it on Amazon or through According to Directv, you are only leasing the boxes. As such, you do not have ownership rights. A charge will be applied to your final bill for this Genie if it is not returned to Directv. Just this experience alone convinced me that I would never choose Directv for my entertainment needs.

The price was over $62 here at Amazon, so I came online here and saved. This is the equivalent of $0. 00 That is pretty much a no brainer working fine, but when you add this, or any other receiver, your contract reverses, so from the date of activation, to the end date, you have The biggest con here is that it is a direct tv issue, not a problem with the product.
