Questions & Answers

The maximum distance that the equipment can be located is how far can it travel?

Communication and IR cables can be extended as far as necessary to allow equipment to be placed wherever you wish. The cable boxes located in the basement are all part of a whole house cable system I installed. Remote control range from IR receiver to remote control is best within 15 to 25 feet in a room that is not too bright. I hope you have good luck with this. Remember external light is your enemy.

Can you please tell me what is the product number for the longer receiver "bar" and that the (2) dual IR emitters, would be able to handle four ?

You are requesting a longer IR receiver bar for some reason that I don't understand. What kind of extension cable do you need? As far as we know, Amazon does sell them. Yes, the two IR emitters will control 4 components with the additional IR emitters you can purchase. You can add up to 12 IR emitters to control up to 12 components.

Can this be used with my existing remotes (Xfinity cable box, dvd player, etc.)? Can I use an aftermarket remote or do I need to buy one?

You can use any IR remote controller with it

Having a great time with it
5/5

It has already been covered well by the other reviewers Depending on what kind of 3 you use, you might have some problems. There are some 3mm cables that will not work with 5mm cables (I extended mine 15ft without any problems) so make sure your cable is not There are two extra rings on 5mm cables, so you can connect a MIC and stereo connection simultaneously. You need to keep the thing from being hot-plugged as well. The computer acts oddly until it is powered off and on again. So I have done all the things I am not supposed to do and it still works like a champ and I can't The device has an annoying light on BOTH ends to let you know when it is receiving a signal.

We agree. Although this is an excellent troubleshooting tool, the light is so blazing that I can't see much. As you can see, the LED on the receiver is covered, while the LED on the control box is left as is as it is hidden in a cabinet.

What a shame! As good as it gets
5/5

The Chinese are capable of delivering a lot of value in home electronics for limited market items such as this. This set gives you all the gear you need for four separate pieces of equipment that are hidden from view at your couch, compared to earlier simple IR repeaters! In addition, it has blue LEDs on the receiver and on the connector box, which flash when an IR signal is received and echoed, so you can immediately see that it is decoding and transmitting the signal A signal is sent to the IR receiver. I have one issue with the IR receiver module I feel that the smallest cable available for the receiver module is too stiff. If you bend the IR receiver repeatedly, it is likely that it will break. The receiver needs to be securely mounted in a fixed location and the cable should not be bent repeatedly.

There is a problem with the receiver cable
3/5

Because of this, I am worthless to the entire unit. It is one of two that I have. It was a few years ago when I bought my first one. I have been able to use the first one with no issue. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the sensor for the IR receiver is defective. As long as I use the sensor cable from the older unit, it works fine. The faulty sensor appears to be working, i. e. There is a blue light flash when the remote is operated at the device, but nothing more The 20 dollars I spent are gone. Make sure you do not make the same mistake again.

A great device and I use it in my system where all the components are situated in a cabinet on the other side of a half wall because I didn't want everything stacked up in plain sight
5/5

It would not work to change everything around and keep surround sound if my surround speaker wires are all going to this cabinet. I watch tv through the Xbox One, so it wouldn't work to change everything around. It is a challenging experience using the handheld controller to watch TV via an Xbox. This is not only due to the fact that you have to use gaming buttons to do everything, but also because the console will enter sleep mode after a certain amount of inactivity. If you just want to change channels quickly to see a sports score or something, you have to go through the process of waking the controller up and navigating It is also possible to use Xbox Smart Glass with your smart phone as a remote control, but that is also very problematic. This little guy did the trick at a fraction of the cost of an RF remote control. I wanted to stop watching TV through the Xbox and switch to watching it directly from the cable box, so in order to control it I needed to purchase a cable box remote. To install the brainbox in my cabinet, I ran the IR receiver under the carpet to my tv, then I put the IR receiver in front of each component and ran IR eyes to those components. As soon as the installation is complete, the computer needs to be plugged in I was up and running as soon as I plugged into power. I'll be honest, I'm not very impressed with the IR device itself. It's an unobtrusive 1"x1"1 piece of kit. I believe it has a cord that extends for about 10 feet. If you do not want to see it you can paint or tape over it, since it doesn't have anything to do with the IR function. There is a small blue LED on the face which blinks when the command is sent, but it does not do anything with IR function. You'll also find some doubles in it Although mine was mounted on the back using a piece of double-sided tape, I wanted to mount it on the top as well, so I added tape there as well. quite strong, even without a direct line of sight it picked up signals from the remotes. I hung mine on the side of the cable box. The brainbox is small too, no bigger than a deck of cards and has claws to mount it to something for mounting. I was able to hook it up to the surge controller without crowding the existing plugs from other devices, since the power cord does have a transformer, but it is fairly small. The IR receiver has 1 input and the IR transmitter has 6 outputs, though the IR transmitter can be used for multiple wavelengths Each of those provided you with an eye cord, giving you an area totaling 18 devices that How are you able to manage 18 different There is no way for me to do so. In the brain, the signal is Whenever I press a remote button, it does what it should, there is no lag at all. Lastly, there are two double-headed switches located on either side of the remote. Two of the four eye emitter cords can be used to control up to four devices, I only needed to control three so that eye is rolled back. You'll find your way up and around- He was tied away from danger. It has four little eyes, each with a double pupil Put double-sided transparent tape on them, peel the backing off, stick the transparent tape to the IR window on the device you want to control, and that's all there is to Furthermore, the cords are 10 feet long, so I was able to reach my devices in the cabinet with no difficulty. As for my setup, I needed a longer cord to get from the TV to the cabinet, so I also purchased a 30' extender cord to connect the IR receiver to the brainbox. As long as you use an AV cable, the tip must be It is 5mm thick. The cord doesn't have to be special, you can find the cheapest audio headphone cord and use it, and though I am not certain how long a cord you can use, I have seen other reviews here where people used over 100 feet. I haven't noticed any delays or interference with the signal over the 30' cord. Generally speaking, I'm very happy with it, and at less than $30 I saw no reason for not getting it.

I'm satisfied with the way this is working so far
3/5

There was only one device I hooked it up to. The following is an update The IR transmitter line on one of the units I'm satisfied with the way this is working so far. Because we moved into a new house, I am still building my cabinet in the new house, so I only hooked it up to one device. A CAT 5E cable is spliced into the IR receiver wire and run from the video closet to the TV wall mount, so the receiver wire can continue to function. A receiver mounted on the wall directly under the television receives infrared signals. A progress report will be posted as I make progress. Approximately 100' runs at a delay of no more than 3 seconds. You'll appreciate the blue LED feed back on the IR receiver to know when it received the signal from the remote! I have an update for you - The 29th of September 2016 - Having finally completed the first part of my cabinet build, I can now move on to the next. I hooked up my Blu-ray player Added a second IR transmitter by taping it to the receiver of the Ray DVD player/Smart Hub, but this did not work. Tried adding another IR transmitter on that line, but that did not Switched everything around and no device would work on the second transmitter. I figured out how to put the components on the other transmitter, so now I have 3 components, Stereo, Digital tuner box, and Blu-ray player. It uses just two IR transmitters to work as a smart hub. As it would take up additional space and not be how the cabinet works, this was not what I wanted to do. It was disappointing that only one of the IR transmitter lines that came with the system Had I attempted to apply that one during the initial installation, my initial review would not have been 5 stars.
