Questions & Answers

Can I use this with a cable connection?

Yes, it is. There is a coaxial cable connector on the back of Magnavox that you can screw in. Once it is connected to your TV, it will use the same outlet.

What are the options for pausing live TV with this unit? Is it possible for me to pause a live ball game for a bathroom break?

I believe so. If you need to go to the restroom, you can take a 6-hour break and then continue working.

One simple question I couldn't answer can be summed up as follows The Magnavox MDR533H/F7 tuner is able to capture HDTV or does it only capture SDTV?

There is only a standard definition tuner on it. You will not be able to record HD, only "high quality". That means that even if the channel is a HD channel, the recording will still be in standard definition. While the dvd player will upconvert to 1080p, the quality will not be as good. Thank you. I hope you found this helpful.

An outdoor antenna is attached to my house. You do not need a cable connection, you can watch through Do you know if this unit will record from my digital TV?

This works great and I can hook it up to the antenna. You can select which channels you want to record and it will find them and start recording. I am in love with it. It has a hard drive and will record to a hard drive, a RW DVD, a plan DVD disk or a plan DVD disk. In fact, I have a old analog TV that can be used in place of the digital converter I have you can also use both or one of them

With a digital tuner, a high-quality HDD and DVD recorder player is available
5/5

My unit was shipped to me in February, and I received it in late March. It has been about two months since I first learned about and used this product. It is MDR533H model number that I ordered. have exactly the same capacity, except for the recording time stored on the internal HDD. The 533 can record 61 hours of HQ (high quality or best recording speed) on the device. With the 535, you'll be able to watch and listen to 100 hours of video in top quality. Five hundred thirty seven hours of best quality are on the 537. It was on sale and I got the 533 right then and there, but I personally would never record or maintain more than 61 hours of recordings in the most reliable Six recording modes are available, ranging from HQ to SLP or from the best to the worst. The HQ mode is the only mode I have used. Since I have talked about 61 hours of HQ being plenty of time for me to keep up with and manage. The 533 is connected to my over the air (OTA) antenna and I receive all of the local channels in my area in 720P and 1080i. An RG6 antenna cable connects my HDTV to the back of the 533, and a short RG6 wire connects the back of the antenna to the back of the antenna. It is possible to record on the unit and watch another channel on your TV at the same time. It's easy to record one show at a time. There's just one tuner on the set. The timer recorder lets you use the recorder at any time you like and record different channels at different times. The quality is very It is impossible to record a TV tower broadcast in 720P or 1080i quality since this machine is not capable of recording high definition streams. As a result, the HQ mode speed is quite similar to what one would watch with a typical TV and get if you watched the show directly to the TV. I only have a DVD player recorder that I have used for a few DVDs. As far as that part of the unit is concerned, there are no problems. Having connected the 533 via hdmi cables to my receiver and my television, I have another hdmi cable to my TV. On the receiver, I have set the video output to 1080P and on the unit, the HDMI setting is set to 1080P, so that the best picture ever is displayed on the television. The picture comes from a recording of a 533 and is of very high quality. As I learn more about the unit, I will update this post. The owner's manual is fairly easy to understand, and I always keep it handy. In general, this is the best quality machine available on the market at an affordable price that records high definition video from high definition broadcast towers received by an OTA This unit is proving to be more and more useful as I go through it. The 533 got a perfect score in my book. I know it isn't perfect, but there are not a lot of products out there for sale that can record high quality images and sounds for watching later or storing for later.

A Magnavofix MDR533H/F7 hard drive and DVD recorder
5/5

The HDTV antenna we use to receive all of our channels has been part of our home equipment since we cut the cord almost 3 years ago. The area we live in is very lucky in that we receive over 44 channels over air, many of which Therefore, we find ourselves in the dilemma which this product was purchased to resolve, the problem of being able to record programs even when we are not present. I liked these things the most *1. Only one of the following applies. There is no doubt that this is a very reliable machine that provides an easy-to-use interface for capturing TV programs off the air. In that regard, it does require you to have a TV antenna system in order for it to work. So be sure you have a good signal when installing There is a distribution amplifier on my antenna system since I feed five televisions and two of these Magnavox units. The following paragraphs are in the spanish version 1. You can use this unit to record TV while watching another show, as long as you use a splitter for your antenna. The DVR is connected to one of my HDMI inputs - so whenever I want to view a recording I have made on the DVR, I switch from the antenna input on my TV to the HDMI input on the DVR. 1.
2. In spite of the lower quality recording to the hard drive, the picture is still quite good on the TV once it has been scaled up. It is quite nice that the picture is of such good quality. I did not expect Blue Ray quality, I expected HDTV broadcast quality, and that is what I got. Then, you can begin with the next two. You are prompted to enter the time, date, and channel for each recording you make. There is no mention of the program in the email. Nonetheless, that, along with the preview that is displayed, is sufficient for me to find the video I am looking for. Among the things I did not enjoy were *1. Only one of the following applies. There are a variety of older television remotes that are not compatible with this unit, and you can tell that this is an old technology. Despite that, it is still a small price to pay to be able to record television Generally, I believe this to be a fantastic piece of equipment for those who have dropped cable in favor of over-the-air broadcasts and who want the ability to record programs to watch them Whenever the commercials come on, it is a joy to skip over them! It is a great option for anyone who is looking to have the same functionality of a VCR as they had when TVs were.

The outage is defective In the - In a box
3/5

This is not the place to go into exhaustive detail since the problem I had with the Magnavox HDD DVD recorder was due to a simple manufacturing defect, probably unavoidable and forgiven. The service and remedy I received from the manufacturer are the main reasons for my dissatisfaction. The first thing I noticed when setting the TV up and performing the channel scan was crossing white dots down the screen in horizontal lines. After unsuccessfully contacting Magnavox, I finally reached someone from the Funai Corporation (apparently Magnavox's parent company). However, this representative was not very In explaining how new the DVR was, she thought that I was kidding In the - As I explained the picture distortion several times, he told me to try several different things, including changing out the AV cords in the box with my own, but it probably wouldn't be worth it. Taking a look at the recorder, he determined it had a manufacturing defect, and offered to replace it within 2 - 3 business days I've been on vacation for three In stead of contacting Amazon, I called Amazon since I had already paid for expedited shipping. The customer service rep was extremely helpful and I was able to get a refund for it by mailing it back to Amazon. On the other hand, that call took 2 - 3 minutes I'll be back in three.
