When you pause the DVD player, it automatically turns off after 20 minutes, which you cannot change. br>When it turns off, you must do the following:
1. Keep an eye out for FBI alerts.
2. Take a look at the trailers. You can skip ahead, but you must first wait for each one to load. br>3. Close caption and aspect ratio preferences can be reset.
4. Locate your position in the film manually. br>This is extremely inconvenient.

We have hundreds of DVDs, just like a lot of other people. Should we spend tens of thousands of dollars to replace them with 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players? rays? (What will we do when they release 132K UUHHDD quadruple blu-ray discs?) Discs with rays? ) It will never end because technology is constantly improving. No, we aren't going to keep spending money on the same things over and over. So, hoping for the best, we purchased this Sony unit, which, believe it or not, is a 4K UHD blu-ray player. The blu-ray player does exactly what it says, upscales older DVDs to near 4K UHD quality. I have no idea how the technology and algorithms work, but they do. I just finished watching the 1979 film Alien. The image was smooth and non-granulated, making it completely watchable and enjoyable. (The alien was just as creepy and unattractive as before. ) This Sony blu-ray player is a must-have for any Blu-ray fan. We just saved tens of thousands of dollars thanks to the use of the ray unit. We haven't looked at the other features of this device yet because preserving our DVD collection came first. Sony, you did an excellent job.

Everything would come together if I bought components and a complete system from the same manufacturer, particularly Sony, which has a stellar reputation. WRONG. There is no benefit to purchasing all Sony equipment because there are no connections between their products. Each one can be read on its own. br>br>This player won't play a 4K Blue Ray Disc; I get a black screen. I checked the troubleshooting guide, and it says there are eight possible causes. I've tried all eight functions and none of them work. There are no instructions in their individual manuals on how to connect their products. How are you going to do it on your own if they don't know or refuse to tell you? If I could, I'd give Sony a -. Customer service and the user interface both received a minus ten. br>br>On their Blue Ray system, there are no error messages or instructions on how to fix them. Because so many customers are calling, Sony Customer Service is not an 800 number; instead, it is a long distance call. This morning I called them, was put on hold for two minutes, and then the call was disconnected. The same thing happened when I called again. Where has Sony Customer Service vanished to?.

Playback of Ray. During 4k Blu-ray playback, it randomly freezes. Playback of Ray. Most of the time, it will resume playing on its own. It appears that the disc is dirty, but since this occurs with brand new discs and multiple discs, it is clearly a player issue. The same issue has been mentioned in previous reviews on this site. 👎.

a player for rays It accomplishes the task at hand. It's sort of like a fridge. The milk is cold when you open the door and turn on the light. br>br>I'm no expert, but I can tell when something appeals to me. This "upscaling" player does improve the appearance of our DVD collection. I haven't used a 4K Blu-ray player yet. ray yet. br>br>A couple of years ago, we had "nice" hdmi cables. I first tried using the old cable (unplugging the old player, disconnecting the cable from the back, and plugging it into the new player). (Easy as pie). The new player would play for a few seconds before the screen went black, came back on, and went black again. I'm sure you understand. br>br>I replaced our old, "nice" cable with the included 4k hdmi cable, and everything went back to normal right away. (I read somewhere that most people do not require expensive cables. ) The low-cost versions are adequate-- (As long as they're 4K ultra). We only use our player as a player. br>br> The apps included are identical to what we have on our 4k TV. I can't give these a rating because I don't know what to do with br>br>The only thing I don't care for is the remote. It's a tad on the small side. I'm old, my eyesight has deteriorated, and my fine motor skills have deteriorated. At any time, I'll take a BIG remote. (By no means is this a deal-breaker. ) br>br>This unit's pricing appears to be very competitive. I don't think the Crutchfield player I was considering would be much better than this Sony for $250. (Perhaps I am mistaken. ) Who can say?.

I had four exchanges, but the product was never compatible with my new 4K t. Even a technician from the t came to help me. Come on over to the manufacturer. After all of the exchanges, the warranty expired, and when I tried to contact Sony, they flatly refused to acknowledge that the warranty had expired due to their error. br>I used to only buy Sony products, but now I won't because I'm broke and it's cost me a lot of money.

This is something you should not buy. It hangs/locks up all of the time. I put it to the test with six different Ultra HD 4k movies (all of which were recently released). Around 45 minutes into the film, it always hangs. Frequently unable to finish the game in the second half. It's a real pain. I tried resetting it to factory defaults, but the problem persists. Blu- Blu-ray movies, on the other hand, run without a hitch.

We have two 4K TVs and have previously streamed content from Netflix, Disney, and other 4K providers. br>br>This player spins up a 4K disk quickly to start disk playback, and it appears to be fairly responsive when changing menus and accessing settings, etc. br>br>However, Sony has completely failed to provide a robust app selection. They aren't there at all! br>br>I use PLEX (server here), but I don't have the PLEX app or the Disney app. There is no way to add my HD Cable TV streaming access, which I can do with Samsung HDTVs. br>br>Suffice to say, most people already have a SMART TV that can handle most streaming, so this 4K player will primarily be used for DVDs and 1080 or 4K disks. br>br>(However, when a player is marketed as "smart," most buyers expect the Smart player package to include more apps and streaming services. ) Sony made a colossal blunder in this department. br>br>If you only need a 1080/4K player, this is the one to go with; however, if you want to stream and watch media, I recommend going with another brand! br>br>1 star (should be 1 1/2) deducted due to the Sony UBP-100's lack of popular apps.
