Questions & Answers

Is it possible to view the recorded files on a device other than the DVR? Is it possible for me to watch these recordings on my computer/over my home network?

I use Pot Player and K-Lite to view the files. On my PC, I have a multimedia player as well. Even the extension was changed from to. mts to . Once, I tried mp4 and it worked as well. You can try that if you don't have either of the players I mentioned (or VLC, as many people recommend). br>It also records two separate files when recording a two-hour program. The second file, on the other hand, has the extension. mts1, which will not run on a computer unless the 1 is removed at the end. However, because it will have the same name as the first file, Windows will not allow you to do so. As a result, the name of the second file from which you removed the 1 must be changed as well. As an example, change the file name to "part 2." br>br>An example is: I recorded a two-hour episode of "The Voice" that was split into two parts. Each hour is represented by a single file. So here's how they appeared on my flash drive after I plugged it into my computer: br>br>The title of the first hour of the show was: 20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-2019 2000- WNBC - mtsbr>br>The program's second hour was titled: 20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-2019 2000- WNBC - mts1br>br>(Did you notice the 1 at the end of the file extension? )br>br>So, I removed the 1 from the file extension and replaced it with "part 2" in the second file name, as shown below: 20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-20190226-2019 2000- WNBC - 1 part 2. mtsbr>br>Alternatively, you may refer to them as whatever you want. "Voice part 1" and "Voice part 2" are two different versions of the same thing. As long as you rename them and remove the 1 from the end of the mts file extension, you're good to go.

What does it mean when the modulation is bypassed?

It simply means that the unit will allow analog TV signals as well as digital signals to pass through to the television. In today's world, it's essentially meaningless. Almost all of the programming is broadcast in high definition or digital format.

Is it possible to get to the menu without using the remote control?

I just checked mine and there is no way to access the menu, but I don't use the original remote anyway; I use a Logitech universal remote, which is much easier to use due to the larger buttons.

Obtains stations from further away
4/5

We are currently using our second RCA HDMI Digital TV Converter Recorder. The first recorder remote was made of extremely thin plastic that cracked on the back when pressed, and it used a flat 2025 battery that needed to be replaced frequently. This one comes with a much better-designed remote that runs on two AAA batteries. We prefer the RCA because the antennas they're connected to seem to pick up more distant channels than the other converter/recorders we've tried. When we need to record three shows at once, we now have two recorders that can reach the weaker stations further away. The old one had a habit of locking up and requiring unplugging to restart; so far, this one hasn't had that problem.

As a recorder, it worked well
3/5

As a recorder, it worked well. I used a flash drive with a capacity of 64 GB. Everything was fine at 0 degrees. It took a lot of reading and searching on the internet for help due to the lack of a good USERS MANUAL. I'm having trouble recording more than once now. Even though the events appear and say they are scheduled to record on the list, the Daily and Weekly programming does not appear to work. I've gone as far as reformatting the Flash Drive and they still don't record; I've completely deleted them and rescheduled them to record Daily or Weekly and they only record once. On a separate note, the remote control is insane? It's difficult to hold on to because it's so small, the buttons are close together, the range is about 7 feet, and your aim has to be spot on!! I don't think anyone should try this!.

There are several programming issues and the quality is poor
3/5

There are several programming issues and the quality is poor. Memory is lost on the channels that have been chosen. When you choose a channel to watch, it reselects the same channel twice before locking on. br>Continued to add the home shopping channels on its own? Do these individuals have a deal with HSN? The only channels that mysteriously reappear are the shopping channels, which is odd.

Easy
5/5

It worked well when it was put on. I've had this one before and I can't brag about the remote because it's easily broken. My elderly father relies on television for entertainment, but the remote slips from his grip and a 14-inch drop quickly kills it. I suppose I'll have to look for a cover to protect it.

It's not that the product is bad; it's just that it wouldn't work for me
3/5

I had to send this back because I couldn't get it to work. It's not that the product is bad; it's just that it wouldn't work for me. I bought it because it had a good reputation for doing what I needed it to do.

Easy to use, reliable, and never gets hot with this brand
5/5

The other brand I had was easily overheated and died after only a year. This is far more effective. Love it!.

This is an excellent product that is simple to set up
5/5

We are able to save a significant amount of cash as a result of this. We have no cable bills because we can watch all of the shows.

If you have a fast enough USB drive, it will work
3/5

I've only had it for two days, so these are only my first impressions. The box appears to be working properly so far, though there have been some recording issues. The recorded video would break up and jump every 20 to 30 seconds during playback. This occurred regardless of the video resolution chosen. The problem was unaffected by using FAT32 or NTFS as the file system format. The USB drive in question was a "Ultra 256G 3. 0 SanDisk" with a transfer rate of 100 megabytes per second. I went with a Corsair 3 as my new motherboard. 0 USB drive I already had, and the recording issue was resolved. As a result, specifying a 3 is a good idea. The term "zero drive" appears to be inadequate. I should be able to specify the exact performance requirements for a USB drive to function properly. Following a few experiments, I also programmed two recording events. The first recording went off without a hitch. The second recording did not take place, despite the fact that it was on the schedule, and I have not had time to try again. Also worth noting is the lack of an HDMI cable among the "included A/V" cables. It would be easier to learn if there was better documentation.
