Five days after I received the unit, it failed/burned out/fritzed. If you follow the user manual, scheduling a program recording can be a nightmare of malfunctions and mistakes. As of 7/15/21, this unit had the new firmware version but not the software update, which I was told was still in the works (and desperately needed).
If you just want a basic tuner for an old TV, it works fine and has plenty of connection options; however, if you want to use it as a DVR, be prepared for a steep learning curve and frequent resets; spoiler alert, the pass code is 88888.
The coaxial cable connecting the device to the television does not have a channel select switch between channels 3 and 4, as shown on the back of the device. The TV is supposed to do a channel search, which I assume is to find this converter box, according to the instructions. I tried several times, both automatically and manually, with no luck. I was finally able to connect it to the TV input using the RCA phone Yellow video composite and Red/White audio signals, and other than that, the setup was simple enough. It didn't pick up any radio signals from the antennae, which could be due to filters. I don't intend to record with this, but I wanted to use an older TV in my workout room on occasion, so the EPG only shows the upcoming programs for the current channel, rather than a list of all channel programs as is typical with a cable type guide.
The remote will only work if you are very close to the recorder.
After 12 years of service, my Zenith Digital Convertor Box broke down. I miss the old box's simplicity and ease of use now that I've purchased and set up this new one. Normally, I would wait a few days before writing a review, but the first device I received had boot issues, and I just received a replacement from AMAZON Prime, which arrived extremely quickly, and I haven't had the opportunity to connect it up to test it yet. br>With the delivery speed, prices, and benefits, Amazon Prime is well worth the money. *******

The response time of the remote control is extremely long.
It certainly serves its purpose, but the response time is a little slow. br>Boot and load time is approximately 8 seconds. br>Picture quality isn't great, but it's usable (when using HDMI). br>It'd be nice to have internal memory for quick recording.
