The Fire TV Recast is a far superior option. This apparatus is functional. It's very simple to use, and the interface is outdated. We recently decided to cancel our cable service, but we still wanted to watch TV on occasion, so we were looking for a device that would allow us to record over-the-air broadcasts. If you buy an external hard drive for storage, this device will be able to do that - Dealing with it, however, seems like a lot of work. The user interface appears to be the best that money can buy - in the 1980's br>br>It does the job - However, after a month of use, we decided to spend the extra money on the Amazon Fire TV Recast to improve the experience (and, as it turns out, to make it more flexible to use throughout the house).
I recently cut the cable cord, and because many streaming TV services don't carry the major networks like NBC, ABC, and CBS, I needed to be able to watch my favorite shows locally. When I first got it, I plugged it in and added a 32 GB flash drive. You must scan for channels, which I did; the only issue I had was with the flat antenna's flimsy stand. To begin with, the cable cord is heavy and pulls on the flat antenna and stand, making it extremely difficult to position it so that you can receive the channels. Perhaps a slightly heavier or more solidly built base would be preferable. I had to affix it to the back of my television. That's the part that irritates me the most. The DVR box is one of my favorites; it's compact and functional. You can only record for that day, not for days ahead of time, but it's better than missing my favorite local shows and news. For a fraction of the cost of my cable company's monthly DVR box. This is the box to get if you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a recording device.
This does exactly what it says on the tin. You'll need an HDMI cable because this kit doesn't come with one, but it does come with two coaxial cables. Although the antenna is small and inconspicuous, it has proven to be effective thus far. The channel menus are very archaic looking, which is the only thing I don't like about the converter. I bought this for our RV, and it works great. I also have a 128GB thumb drive full of all of our CDs, and it plays them all! How cool is it to have TV AND your entire music library for such a low price? The antenna also has a range of at least 30 miles, which isn't bad for a 2oz and small device. I'm content with myself.
It was a present for my father, so I bought it for him. The instructions appeared to be very flimsy and unhelpful. He was unable to make it work. It was incompatible with the television. It was returned to us. My uncle has an older model that is still in excellent condition. They don't seem to be as good as they used to be. I see that the store now sells a name brand version of this unit. Perhaps we'll be able to get it.
The converted box and anthena are particularly appealing to me. With the 35-mile range, I was able to get access to a variety of channels. The image quality is fantastic! The instructions were the only thing I had a problem with. It wasn't the most user-friendly, and there was very little information. Aside from that, the product meets my expectations.
It was impossible to turn on the digital box. I tried using the remote or the switch several times, but it would not turn on. The T. I didn't notice any input from the box, either. Other devices were plugged into the same outlet, indicating that the outlet was not defective; I returned it as defective and received a refund.
There are far too many keys on the remote control that aren't used. The antenna cord is too short, and moving it causes the sticky pad to stop working.
