12 GA. Copper wire has a current rating of 20 amps at 120 volts. "br>It's been a long time since I was a model train enthusiast, but I seriously doubt this individual's system runs on line voltage. which is fed into the train power transformer, where (V/A) is greatly reduced.
I'd use 14 awg wire because 18 is quite thin.
It is made of stranded copper and does not contain any aluminum.
There is no indication on the package whether the insulation appears to be regular PVC or not.

There is no connection between the red and black wires. The description did not make this clear.
At $18 per 50 feet, this is of good quality and a good value. The description, however, should be updated to make it clear that the red and black wire strands are not fused together. Although the wires are loose, they are all wound onto the same spool. Aside from that, everything is as it should be. The silicone sheath as well as the pre-installed silicone sheath and pre-installe Tined wires are extremely flexible and should be safe to use in corrosive environments.
The red and black wires appear to be connected in a pair in the photo, but this is not the case. They're wires that aren't connected to one another. Although the wire quality is good for marine applications such as my boat wiring, having separate wires made it more difficult to fish them inside the aluminum tube Bimini frame of my pontoon boat. It's not a major flaw, but I would have ordered something else if I had known there were separate wires on the spool.
These are two separate runs of wire that were rolled onto a single small spool after being taken from two different spools. The two strands aren't combined into a single multi-stranded strand. For easy routing and installation, use stranded wire. I could have sat in my garage and cut two strands from other rolls myself for a lower cost.
It can be attached or separated with a quick snip and pull if necessary. br>br>At this price point, the stranded wire is tinned, which is a great feature. You can judge the quality of my photos by looking at them. br>br>I soldered for effect after a quick strip, and the solder connection was excellent with no issues. br>br>Yeah, yeah, it's made in China. Try finding stranded copper wire that is both tinned and made in the United States for this price. I triple dog dare you.
The fog lamp wiring on my car needed to be replaced, so I bought it. I needed a flexible wire and couldn't find it. This spool was the perfect gauge for my project, and it's heavy and wound with both red and black wire that aren't connected-- Each wire is separate from the others. I know that many of the comments I've read on wire were critical of whether or not the wires were connected. I actually preferred that the wires be individual for my application. Each wire's covering is very flexible, and the wires are stranded rather than solid and silver on the inside. I had no trouble soldering this wire to other wires, and I was able to run about 6-foot of it. feet of soldered wire with no current issues when connected to the car's 12v system, which powers the LED fog lights. The price was reasonable, and it provided good value. I would buy it again.
This isn't zip cord; it's just two lengths of low-density polyethylene. On the same spool, you'll find high-quality wire. Purchase something else if you're looking for wires to be joined. If you're looking for black and red wire lengths, go with something better and less expensive.
During my 5th-scale racing days, I came across silicone jacketed wire. These 3' cars, like the 5th scale and electrics, have been exposed to all of the elements. Silicone jacketed wire is the only way to go if you need something that is extremely flexible and well-insulated against almost anything. The 14AWG wire I'm using can easily handle nearly 10 amps of current, and the stranded wire is simple to solder and shrink wrap. Milapeak appears to be the best value for money seller. 20' of red and 20' of black are included on the spool I purchased. This spool is being used to wire oil temperature and pressure gauges in my Si using split loom tubing. It's impossible to overestimate the value of silicone jacketed wire.
