Yes, there was a very loud beep.

I've tried using programming mode to enable keypad feedback, but nothing seems to work. why. ?

The 212i will only give you feedback by flashing the yellow indicator. To get a sounder, I believe you'll need the 212se.

What is the total number of outputs on this keypad?

This keypad has two outputs: one NO and one NC.

Would this work as a replacement for an IRI keypad on an outside magnetic door latch that is covered and not exposed to rain or other elements other than humidity?

If you already have it, give it a shot. Keep in mind that rain will eventually wick into the contacts, causing corrosion, especially if there are strong winds.
