Today I received this radio and I have been playing with it for the past several hours. You did a great job with this. The sound quality is superb for a speaker of this size. When the antenna is up for FM and short wave, the reception is good. However, the am reception from time to time can be a bit spotty, but it could be the area. Since I live in a rural area, the signal can be harder to receive. As for the battery compartment cover, I did not like it either. There is a lot of flimsiness to this and it is very vulnerable to breaking. I think they could have given this cover a bit more thought and made it a little thicker and more durable.
