It is in the buyer's best interest to be careful
3/5

It is a decent player for the price point, but you need to assume a very short life expectancy and lots of skipping discs, which doesn't justify its price tag. While I read the poor reviews before buying this, I was optimistic that RCA could make an exception given the company's long-standing reputation for quality. Unlike other electronics I own, this one lasts a long time. I liked how compact the player is, and how I could hit the buttons just by feeling and touching them. There are two parts to my machine forward and rear This is on the left). For around $5, you can purchase a long cable on Amazon. In terms of playing the player, it worked for a few months with little to no issues It is free to download, but some discs, including brand new ones, either don't play or continuously You would think that since this is for a car, the anti-lock brakes would do the trick Having the ability to skip over the content would be essential, but that is not the case. The solution itself was becoming problematic, but a trip to Florida (from the northeast) was the final nail in the coffin. Despite working on our drive down, the battery died immediately as soon as we began our northbound journey. This is totally not (I'm sure south-side cars come with DVD players, so I'm not sure whether heat damaged the components. ). However, it failed during the return trip and I had to purchase a (more expensive) RCA at a Target store in GA. The player is under warranty (and I purchased an extended warranty, which has not yet been activated since I have only had it for a few months), but either way, I will lose the $120 I spent on the unit. You are in good hands.

As a result, we are very disappointed in the quality of this system and urge others to adopt it
3/5

We only managed to get one year out of this DVD system. Our family bought it in July 2016 for a long car trip and have gently used it since then. An DVD will no longer be read, and it will say "No disc". There is nothing to recommend about the quality of this system, and we strongly encourage others not to buy It has now been too late for me to return it since we missed the return window. We ended up with a 6 month subscription, and then it went out. Make sure you choose a product that will last.

The high hopes we had The project will be finished within six Taking two young children on long road trips is a common activity for us
3/5

The key to a happy (and hassle-free) trip is to keep the passengers entertained. Manufacturers of these kinds of equipment have stopped manufacturing these items, so they're becoming increasingly hard to come by. We were able to come to an agreement with these options after researching the options. Besides, this is a known brand, so they would be easier to order (if vs. Reconditioned) and had a fair price. It was time to upgrade a set of Phillips 7 inch DVD players, which typically last us *2 years of heavy use and are durable for a young crew. Phillips discontinued their units, we were forced to make a change, and our hopes were high for these replacements. We are quite disappointed with the results! We have failed to use them after * 6 months of regular use. To ensure that we and our kids remain sane and sane, we require that our kids wear headphones (after I had watched Frozen 100 times). There is a problem with the headphone jacks. There is an intermittent problem with the "master" unit's jack. The feeling will sometimes only be in one ear, and most of the time will not be there There is no sound coming from it even after cleaning it and using different headphones. There is a problem with the "piggyback" unit that is causing the jack and speaker to stop In addition to the sound issue, there are some other problems with the DVD player. It defaults to a very loud volume upon starting (15), and we have to keep turning it back off (a minor detail, I realize, but our other player stayed on level). volume controls are located on top of the unit, in a row with all of the other control buttons. This makes it very easy to stop or fast forward a movie accidentally in the dark after it's been put in. I find it very frustrating! Starting the vehicle causes the disk to restart from the beginning instead of picking up where you left off. I know it is a very minor issue. How could we have known Phillips would spoil us. It's nice to have a remote control. If you sit in the back seat with two young children (did I mention we have two of them? requires line of sight to the unit in order to function, so we velcro-mounted it The unit was attached to it. I am glad it did not get lost. There are still no updates. The bar that holds this strap to the unit is made of plastic (instead of metal on the Phillips models) and broke off after tugging if a little bit by my 7-year-old. Trying to adjust the volume and play buttons in a fit of frustration, a 1-yr-old. It's not my fault that this design was a little sloppy (I guess I can't blame him too much). were forced to come up with a Rube Goldberg solution until we got home from our 8 hour trip (I did have fun trying to come up with a solution with a shoelace and a short bungee cord). We're looking for new units to keep our road trips happy. While it's exciting to consider what may go wrong next (and how I can creatively fix it), it's all very well looking for the next set of units. The following are all possible These were a huge disappointment all in all. To find a better model, I encourage you to look elsewhere. Except, of course, for those who want additional excitement to their long road trip. Then, of course, get out there!.

This denies you access to your DVD
3/5

The product is not recommended for the simple reason that it has destroyed a DVD. playing the same DVD several times, I noticed that it was skipping at the same spot every time. It has a scratch all the way around the disc at the same location that I removed the dvd to clean it. There are scratches inside the dvd player which appear to be caused by raised writing. I also noticed that after a month and a half of use the dvd player stopped playing due to the open message.

Does not play movies and freezes when it does
3/5

Sorry for the disappointment. This is what we bought for our daughter to use in the car while on long distance trips. After we got it set up and inserted the disc, it took well over 10 minutes to read it, and once it was read, either we got a faulty disc or it couldn't read anything. Therefore, we took out the disc, checked it for scratches, put it back in and waited another 10 minutes for it to be read before the movie started. I get to the main menu and hit play, but nothing happens. I hit play again and the screen changes colors and You need to try it again for the movie to play. After 30 minutes of the movie, the screen freezes and we are forced to shut it down. After trying multiple times to play the movie, it would not even try to play. I tried multiple other movies and still was unable to play any of them. Despite multiple attempts, I was never able to get it working. When we got it, the cords were already bent and there was a burning smell coming from the player.

According to me, this was one of the best purchases I have ever made
5/5

A viewer I have had for some time now & here is what it looks like There have been many hours of enjoyable time spent on it. Keeping a TV on all the time keeps us entertained since we don't have a TV constantly running. Colors of the screen are brilliant from every angle, you can see them no matter where you are. According to me, this was one of the best purchases I have ever made.
