Questions & Answers

Do you have the ability to scan images?

Yes. Larger photographs (up to 8 1/2 x 14) can be directly scanned. Smaller items are held in a plastic sleeve: For smaller photos, use papers, receipts, and so on.

Is this a flat-bed scanner, for example, capable of scanning from a book?

I don't have a flat bed, and I can't scan from a book. It's a scanning device for pages. Each page must go through the ADF one by one.

Will this scanner work with the new Mac OS X, which will be released in the fall of 2019?

I'm not sure how compatible they are right now. However, this is a fantastic company, and they've already emailed to inform them that an update will be required, and they're working on it.

I recently purchased a scansnap ix1500 scanner. Is it possible to scan documents and save them as tiff files? I'm only able to locate pdf and jpeg files. ?

The ScanSnap iX1500 does not scan documents as tif files, which is a shame. PDF and JPEG files are the only ones that can be opened.

Selected User Reviews For Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1500 Color Duplex Document Scanner with Touch Screen for Mac and PC (Black Model)

DO NOT BUY THIS THING FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD! So, I bought this thing to scan important paperwork, and it wouldn't install unless I installed every piece of nonsense Windows update ever released; is Fujitsu in cahoots with Microsoft's devils? I put it off for a long time, but then I realized I needed to scan a lot of photos, hundreds of them, so I decided to put up with Microsoft bloating and slowing down my computer to the point where it was nothing more than a marketing tool for Microsoft just to get this photo process done faster
3/5

br>br>Well, MS did exactly what I expected it to do to my computer, and Fujitsu got back at me for being so naive to think it would be worth it, because this is the worst product I've ever bought, and I've had some other crappy experiences that would make a grown man cry. br>br>First and foremost, as others have stated, the user interface (UI) is a complete sham, dumbed down to the point of insulting a monkey while also being difficult to use. That was a lot of work, believe me. Sure, it gives you a slew of geek candy tweaks that only 1% of this product buyers would ever use, but these come at the expense of what you do need for what this thing is% br>br>Then, when you set it to automatically identify documents, receipts, or photos, you'd think it could because they obviously marketed it as being able to, right? NOPE! Most of the time, it recognizes photos as documents, and occasionally as receipts, but it has never detected a photograph. not once! Oh, and it frequently auto-updates. Corrects the orientation of the photo so that it is not upside down or sideways when printed. Simply disable that "feature" because you'll be correcting these things' mistakes more than your own! Fujitsu, you sure know how to show off your cutting-edge skills! br>br>But wait, this overpriced piece of junk isn't done giving you buyer's remorse; it'll flat out hog your computer's memory as it's the worst resource hog I've ever seen, starting no less than 14 resource hogging processes. Even though I'm not using the PDF function to force it to scan everything as a JPEG photo file, it still runs Adobe processes twice in the background, and even though I'm not using the Cloud (come on kids, it's an offsite server, not something you drew in kindergarten! ), it still runs Adobe processes twice in the background. ) It has several associated processes that are constantly consuming resources, and I have a strong suspicion that one of them is constantly contacting the Fujitsu mothership. Ship all the time, too, because that's way too many processes for its basic function, even for these Fujitsu programmers' clumsy attempts at even the most basic coding. br>br>So I figured, ok, I'll live with this resource eating up a lot of my time as well, but only while scanning, because I really need these photos scanned! uh, no. . Fujitsu's programmers (I use the term "programmers" very loosely here) decided that they wanted their program to permanently slow down your computer by running EVERY process even when the program isn't running. That's right, it'll never go away; it'll always be there, stinking like last week's rotten fish in the trash can! Really? The Adobe plugins and Cloud phone home processes (yes, plural) are included in this list of always running processes. Once again, I'm left wondering if the programmers of this garbage didn't cheat in order to graduate from college, assuming they even went to one! So now I'm stuck with this overpriced, difficult-to-use, never-goes-away resource hog of a piece of garbage! I guess I should have known right after installing it because it creates a shortcut called "Inquire into the problem" in your Windows Start program list. That's the first time I've ever seen it! Even before they "run" the program, they have it! Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW br>br>PLEASE DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE FANBOY REVIEWS HERE; perhaps some are just scanning receipts, which is way overkill for a device this expensive, or they're shills hired by Fujitsu to keep this thing selling until they make their development money back on it with fake positive feedback. br>br>Oh, and if any Fujitsu reps are reading this, don't say "we're sorry. " Kindly get in touch. Help is only a mouse click away, or some such nonsense! I went over your help site with a fine tooth comb in an attempt to find solutions to all of these problems, but I came up empty-handed. If you want to assist me, please send me a refund check, and I'll gladly return this garbage to you! You can put it on the conference table right before firing the entire development team in charge of this. There's no need to thank me, Fujitsu, for writing such a candid and critical review of your failed product. I'm not sure what I'm saying. Perhaps a service similar to what you offered me.

It's a Workhorse, to be sure
5/5

This ScanSnap scanner was purchased to replace an older S510 scanner that I had owned for several years. This scanner is a workhorse, just like the first. Paper jams are extremely uncommon. The quality levels are well-chosen, with "Normal" producing clear images that are more than adequate for document scanning. This new model is faster, holds a little more paper, and runs quietly. The scanner was up and running in minutes after a simple installation. There simply aren't any better scanners on the market, particularly for home and home-office use. Fujitsu's products are better for office use!.

Even more superior to the previous model
5/5

So far, we've purchased six of these for our law firm. The first four were taken from the previous model, which was fantastic. The fact that you only have to flip up one piece to open it up is something I like about this one a little bit better. The previous model required you to flip one part up and the other down. It's difficult to put into words. This design, however, I believe, is far superior.

Receipts and small business files are an absolute must! This machine is ideal; as a small business owner, I can attest to the fact that it is a MUST-HAVE tool
5/5

The S1300 was my first purchase, but it was far too slow for my requirements. You can put 40 sheets of paper in here and it will zip right through them. We got rid of five large file cabinets and went completely digital, storing everything on the hard drive and backing it up to Google Drive, as well as a SSD hard drive backup. This method makes it so much easier to locate files. These are just some of the advantages of using this machine; I've been fighting envelopes of receipts for years. They never seem to go away, and some of them end up getting lost. This device will scan 3-dimensional objects. 5 receipts can be printed at once, and the on receipt function saves them with the vendor and date. Each employee has a file with the month and year saved in it. This is a true lifesaver. Finally, I'll mention the scanner's display; it's a nice feature that eliminates the need to get into the computer to switch between files, receipts, and so on; this thing has more than paid for itself in my opinion, and has allowed us to become much more efficient.

The most advanced scanner ever created
5/5

We have a total of 15 of these, as well as the older ix500 models. They are, without a doubt, the best scanner I've ever worked with or supported. On some computers, they can be difficult to set up. If you aren't familiar with the subject, you might require assistance. It could also work out of the box, depending on the environment. Overall, they are a million times better than any other scanner I've ever used or supported professionally. It was well worth the money. Unless you can't afford this one, don't buy another scanner.
