Questions & Answers

It's inkless and dye-based, according to what I've read. So, does the dye have a shelf life and will it run out at some point?

The image is printed on Canon ZINK photo paper by your Canon IVY mini photo printer using heat. Thermal transfer is a method of printing that does not require the use of dyes or inks. We hope this information is useful.

Is it possible to print directly from a computer? And what size is the final printout after the white paper is peeled away?

Your Canon IVY printer is designed to print exclusively from Android and iOS devices using the Canon Mini Print app, which is available for download for free. This printer isn't meant to be used with a desktop or laptop computer. We hope this information is useful.

Is there a charging cord included?

The USB cable that came with your Canon IVY printer can be used to charge it. It'll work with almost any USB A-compatible device. For charging, use a style plug. We hope this information is useful.

Is it possible to trim these photos down to a smaller size, or are they like polaroid photos that you wouldn't want to cut?

You can cut them if you want, but you can also change the size of the photo in the app so that it prints smaller on the photo paper, allowing you to overlap photos over the blank areas.

The Canon Ivy vs
5/5

the HP Sprocket TLDR: Ivy vs. Sprocketbr> Personal taste is the deciding factor. Everything is nearly identical, from the instructions to the ease of use to the Android app. Portraits taken with the Canon Ivy look better (less sharp is better in this case), but dark areas lose detail. HP Sprocket prints have a slightly higher resolution, better color gradations, but a sepia tint. ish. Check out the images. br>THE BOTTOM LINEbr>They're both entertaining, simple to set up and use, and produce prints that any "normal" person would find acceptable, if not downright amazing. The packets of ZINK photo paper are interchangeable. able to change I tried a few different types in both printers. There is no quality difference, so buy whatever is on sale! The cost of a print is approximately 50 cents. (NOTE- Because the blue card in each pack is not interchangeable, save the Canon blue card and use it when using other brands of paper in the Ivy, etc. Also, I'm not sure if this applies to all mini-computers. HP does not require the card to be inserted with each reprint, however. load. )br>DISCLAIMER: This is a work in progress. Both the Canon Ivy and the HP Sprocket took crisp, clear pictures. I'm a photographer as well as an artist. I have a lot of complaints about pixel-based games. peepers, as well as other oddballs such as myself. br>REVIEWbr>I went into this with an open mind, looking for something that would give me "good enough" quality to paste snapshots into a casual travel journal at a reasonable price; however, I AM a serious photographer, so I did a lot of PREsearch, and I wouldn't have been surprised if I had to return whatever printer I bought. Both the Canon Ivy and the Canon Ivy Pro were purchased by me. I bought an HP Sprocket so I could compare the two and return one. HAH! I like both of them so much that I'm not returning either, though I will give one to my middle son to make up for it. Just FYI- He is a late-comer to the party. He's a 20-year-old tech nerd who doesn't care which one he gets after testing it out with me. They resemble each other a lot. br>PRINT QUALITYbr>The print quality of both the Sprocket and the Ivy pleasantly surprised me! In a larger/more expensive printer, there's a smidgeon of fringing I'd complain about, but it's not an issue in these small, just-for-fun printers. prints that are enjoyable to look at I'd also make a couple of minor changes. choose sepia-toned photos The HP prints have a bluish tone to them. I tried a filter in the HP app and another in Snapseed, but neither were successful in balancing the tone, and the HP filter, like the Canon app's filters, significantly reduced print quality. Any nit- The loss of subtle gradations, especially in darker areas, would explain why the Canon prints were chosen. For selfies, I preferred the slightly-slightly-slightly-slightly-slightly- The Ivy-produced prints have a glam look to them. My laugh lines were a lot less visible! However, I prefer the HP for "art" prints (higher resolution and no loss of detail in dark areas). ) The HP was also a third of the price of the Canon.
SET- UPbr>The set-up is simple and straightforward. It could not have been any easier or quicker to set up. Slide the top open, stuff a stack of papers inside, and walk away. br>SIZEbr>Smaller than expected, very light, shiny, and slippery if you aren't careful. br>SIZEbr>Smaller than expected, very light, shiny, and slippery if you aren't careful. br>SIZEbr>Smaller than expected, very light, shiny, and slippery if you aren't careful. br>SIZEbr>Smaller than The rose gold isn't the most luxurious of metals. It's sparkly, but it's more metallic and pearly. PS- Purchase the product.

Any image you print is owned by Canon and is royalty-free
3/5

Read the App Store's terms and conditions. You are compelled to agree that any images you print are available to them royalty-free throughout the world. They can use it however they like. I'd expect to be able to print in peace with a printer this pricey. Take a look at the image:.

Why is the Canon IVY printer better for instant printing than the Instax camera?   The Good:
- Because of its light weight and small footprint, it is very portable (see photo of my iPhone 8 Plus and the IVY printer)br>- There's no need for ink; all you'll need are photo paper refills!
- Connect via Bluetooth and then add the printer to the Canon Mini Print app for super simple setup and installation
5/5

br>- br>- Quick printing from the app to the printer (approximately 25 seconds for 1 photo)br>- In 75 minutes, the device will be fully charged. br> Mini Print is a fantastic iOS app that functions as a full photo editor, allowing you to apply a variety of effects and manipulations to photos for free (this is my new go-to app for photo effects). br>- The ability to share physical memories with family and friends on the spot is just plain fun. br>br>The Bad:
- I wish the printer could print more than 10 sheets at a time because you go through them so quickly. br>- The Bottom Line:br>Wow, rarely do I see a new product that is as well thought out as this printer and associated app. br>br>If possible, faster printing time, but for this small of a printer, it's hard to beatbr>br>The Bottom Line:br>Wow, rarely do I see a new product that is as well thought out as this printer and associated app. I have an Instax camera, and while it's fun, this printer and app outshine it. The ability to take a photo, edit it with after effects on my phone, and then print it on the printer instantly is a significant difference between the Instax and this Canon printer app. I had two issues with the Instax camera: I couldn't easily center the subject, and the lighting exposure was problematic. Trying to get it right with the Instax camera resulted in me wasting a lot of photo sheets. With the Canon Mini Print app, on the other hand, I can see the photo, add text or other effects, and then print it. This eliminates a large number of photo sheets that would otherwise be thrown away. The Canon IVY printer is simple to set up because it connects via Bluetooth, and installing photo paper is as simple as popping off the top and dropping in the photo packet (pictures for review attached). The printer's speed for this size is quite good, at 25 seconds (see video). It's great to take anywhere because it's rechargeable, light weight, and small. You can print photos for people as instant mementos and throw it in your backpack or purse. Overall, this is a well-rounded device and app that is a lot of fun to use and share memories with; it comes highly recommended!.

Right now, this thing is reviving me
5/5

Oh man. This is fantastic. I bought it because I needed a quick way to add photos to my travel journal. This was a good idea for me because the images were already printed on sticker paper and didn't require any ink refills. I'd already purchased an Instax camera, but the print quality was terrible, so I returned it. This small printer is much more efficient. The photographs are crisp and clear. I decided to make some cute stickers for my nieces since I'm not traveling at the moment. Then I began making my own. Now. Now I'm making stickers out of old 1980s unicorn posters that I had as a kid. This makes me ridiculously happy. Is it ridiculous that I'm using it this way? Yes. Are there any regrets on my part? NONE. This is great if you need a quick way to get small photos for scrapbooking or journaling. This is also great if you're a grown woman who wants to print a bunch of stickers just for fun. At $. It's also very inexpensive at $50 per image. Make a list of everything you want to print, and then make a list of everything you don't want to print.

The image quality is excellent
5/5

The right-hand image is from the Canon ivy, while the left-hand image is from the HP Sprocket. As you can see, the Canon ivy produces excellent image quality and color. Because I wanted to compare the image quality as closely as possible, I only made minor adjustments to the brightness. So far, I'm pleased with the printer, and it's exactly what I need for my bullet journaling 2x3 prints.
