Questions & Answers

What's the difference between a 5 mil and a 3 mil pouch?

A million dollars is equal to. Each side of the pouch is 0.005 inch thick. br>3 million is a significant amount of money. Each side of the pouch is 0.003 inch thick. br>The height of a stack of 100 5 mil pouches is exactly one inch. br>For one-time use or storing the document away or in a binder, 3 mil is fine. If you're going to use the document in the field, 5 mil is preferable. br>I agree with the other users who claim that Apache's 5 mil pouches are actually 4 mil pouches. That is not the case with other brands I've purchased.

Is it true that these 5 mil pouches are folded (seamed) on the long side as described?

The short side of these pouches is seamed, just like the 8 1/2" (width) side of a sheet of printer paper.

Will these laminating pouches work in any laminator, or only in the Apache?

Yes. I use the Amazon brand (basics), which is a fantastic machine with which I have had no issues and with which I have successfully used many other apache and other brands. My machine is capable of laminating materials with a thickness of 3 to 5 mils.

Is this a gloss, matte, satin, luster, or semi-gloss finish? gloss? What is the reflectivity of the Scotch Brand laminating pouches compared to the basic Scotch Brand laminating pouches?

These are premium quality items. UV protection is minimal on this gloss. Scotch Brand laminating pouches have a reflectivity that is comparable to or better than this one.

My favorite 5 mil laminating pouches (I laminate a lot and have tried a lot of different brands)
5/5

I do a lot of laminating (in the last three months, I've bought and used over 700 pouches of various brands). While I haven't found significant differences between laminating pouches that would cause me to reconsider my preferences in the face of significant price differences, Apache 5 mil pouches are currently my preferred type. They're a "no-brainer" purchase in my opinion, given that they're usually among the least expensive 5 mil pouches. br>br>(I should point out that I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is on these. ) I'm about to place an order for three more packs after purchasing three in the previous two months)br>br>I don't have any "Cons," but here are some "Pros": 1) Once laminated, the image is bright and crystal clear. These pouches are not cloudy or dark (as some other pouches are), and they make colors "pop" more than the competition. br>br>2) I prefer 5 mil laminating pouches for the majority of my projects; Some brands, on the other hand, are extremely hard and have a knife-like edge. Because the rock hard pouches often stay bent into a warped position, the Apache laminating pouches retain the tiniest bit of flexibility. With these, it occurs less frequently. br>br>3) The corners are just the right amount of rounded. It's not overt - When looking at them, it is difficult to notice that they are rounded. But non- For children, rounded corners on 5 mil pouches are extremely dangerous. These are safe for children (and adults), at least as safe as 5 mil lamination can be. ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Purchase these 5 mil laminating pouches as long as they are among the most affordable options. Even if they cost a few dollars more at some point, they may be worth considering because of their superior quality. **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************.

This is not a 5 mil laminate
4/5

As a 3 Mil Substitute, this product is ideal. These laminate pouches are of excellent quality when compared to the 3 Mil range of laminate brands, but they are a poor substitute for the advertised 5 Mil laminate. These pouches were purchased for a specific 5 Mil laminating purpose, to be laminated in my newly purchased Amazon Basics Laminator (a fantastic and capable laminator!). ), and they simply fell short. br>br>Fortunately, I did a test run with the Apache laminating pouches and laminated the instructional paper that came with them. The final product was a 3 Mil lamination job - The laminate is a little flimsy. Unfortunately, I required the quality and durability of a true 5 Mil laminate, which these pouches do not provide; however, if a 3 Mil lamination job is required, these pouches are extremely high quality.

- Pros- - br>br>- br>br>- br>br>- br Best 3 Mil laminate (even if it looks like a 5 Mil)br> - clings tenaciously to the laminated paper's edgebr> - Bottom Line: Don't buy these if you need a 5 Mil or higher lamination job done, because they won't meet your expectations. br>br> These are the pouches for you if you're looking for a low-cost 3 Mil laminate pack that outperforms other name brands in the 3 Mil range. br>br>*** UPDATE **
br>Apache contacted me the day after I wrote this review to apologize for the inconvenience caused by their product failing to meet my expectations. Apache promptly refunded my money and provided me with a free pack of their 7 Mil laminate pouches. This shows me that this company cares deeply about their brand and product, and wants nothing less than to meet or exceed their customers' expectations. This review has been updated from a three to a four star rating. br>br>Many thanks to Apache!.

My review has now been updated
4/5

UPDATE: I MADE A MISTAKE, and I apologize to the Apache laminating pouches' creators. It wasn't the Apache 5 mil laminating pouches that caused the cloudy effect. The problem, I now believe, was caused by my NEWLY PURCHASED Scotch laminator, which I purchased for $20 at Walmart. I tried several brands of 5 mil laminate and they all had the cloudy effect, which irritated me, so I slammed this brand because it was my third try. My 3 mil Universal laminate was well protected by the Scotch laminator. It was crystal clear, allowing the colors to stand out. As a result, I assumed the Scotch laminator would work just as well for 5 mil. After all, it's a brand new machine, so I can only assume it's not getting hot enough, or that some laminate brands use adhesives that require a higher temperature. What is to be expected? br>I kept one of the Apache laminating pouches to put through its paces in another machine I had on the way. Because the Apache 5 mil pouches were only $7, I decided to keep it. 96 pouches for 100, and I was told it might work in a better laminating machine, which it did. It was very clear when I read it. When I returned to repurchase them, I discovered that they were no longer available at that low price. MY FIRST REVIEW. br>br> br>They called it 'CRYSTAL' clear on the label. No, it's not the case! Only glossy brochure paper is being laminated at this time. There are foggy dots all over, which I assume are adhesive, and it looks terrible. The only saving grace was the price, so I took a chance. br>I had previously purchased Walmart. com's Universal Laminate 3 mil. It's crystal clear, giving the image a bright, clean appearance. There are no foggy spots or dots, regardless of how the light is reflected. I always use the same brochure paper, so the problem isn't with the paper.

There will be no issues
5/5

Because I had heard bad things about thinner pouches, I decided to buy the Apache 5ml pouch. I then purchased the 3ml pouch and had no issues. br>I then purchased the 5ml pouch and had no issues at all. 3 ml was strong but not as stiff as the others. br>br>If an area along the inner paper was not completely transparent, I ran it through again after it had cooled. Because I knew my finished product would be near water, I wanted the heat seal to be as close to the inner paper as possible. br>br>I should also mention that getting a tight seal sometimes necessitated running it through the machine several times, i. e. 3,4,5 times. br>Before running laminated paper through for a second heat pass, make sure it's completely cool. br>There has never been a problem with the Apache machine. Apache laminate pouches are available in three sizes: three, five, and ten milliliters.
