Having a backup GPS and a radio that works well is a plus, but I really need to input my vessel information because it starts squeaking at me whenever I switch it on and it is really annoying.

I haven't transmitted with it yet so I can't make any comments A built-in GPS antenna works well in that location, where the unit is mounted on the console of my pontoon boat. My only complaint would be that the speaker is not the best. It sounds a bit tinny. As far as I can tell, the display can also be dimmed for night use, but the green "receive" light, which is very bright and can't be dimmed, and can be very The review wants me to give a numerical rating for "sheerness". Since I'm ignorant of what that means in terms of vhf radios, I didn't give it a point.

This is a great unit

Having used this unit, I am very impressed. The GPS works flawlessly, and it is mounted on my waverunner, which I use for fishing. It is made of impeccable quality, and it has a beautiful design. A surprising amount of power is also consumed by this device. Because of the limited power on a PWC, I was very pleased with how little it used. An additional 5 amps are available at idle, so that's a plus.

Mount broke when it was mounted on plastic

The size and ease of use of this SH Marine radio are appealing to me. It is possible to mount this on a Center Console Bimini Top, but be careful. My 23 Outrage is equipped with this radio, which is mounted to the steel structure of the After the first wavy day, the plastic mounts broke and the radio fell to the ground. It would be nice if it had a stainless steel mounting plate option.

It's better not to buy this VHF radio

I found it to be very disappointing. Stay away. found it to be unreliable after just a few weeks. In response to my refund request, I got a message saying I had to return the radio, which is fine, but I have never heard between the seller and myself about the return. A lot of frustration has resulted from this. Those who bought the item through Amazon are advised to stay away from this company.
