This is my third purchase of these cameras, and I have to say that out of all the underwater cameras I've used in my Koi pond, these are by far the best built. br>br>I've included some images captured from the cameras, as well as some images of how I mount them in my straight-walled pond for easy relocation and depth adjustment. br>br>I leave the PVC unpainted because it will become covered in algae over time, but it could be painted with pond safe paint. br>br>These photos were taken with no external or internal light source other than a cloudy day; in the first two images, you can see one of the other cameras across the pond.
The unit was purchased just a few weeks ago. The driver that came with the USB stick made it difficult for me to set up the camera. The camera is not recognized by the software. I contacted tech support and was told that I needed to download the latest driver from the company's website, which I did, and the camera now works perfectly. I would have given it five stars if they could have put the correct driver on the USB stick. This would have come in handy when I was trying to figure out what was wrong.
I was immediately impressed by the camera's build quality after receiving it quickly. It comes in at an honest-to-goodness poundage of 4 pounds of goodness; The end result is excellent. As a complete novice when it comes to video streaming, it took me several tries to get a live stream up on YouTube, but I am very pleased with the results.
I've owned a few of these cameras over the years. The bracket and case are made of 316 stainless steel, which adds to the overall quality of the product. Images with a resolution of 5 MP are excellent. The camera is excellent; my only complaint is that the software is nearly useless. Security Spy is what I use, and it's great. Linux- usable. Works with standard protocols, so it's compatible with raspicamplayer and other similar programs. You can manually add cameras and change configurations using the management software, which is primarily for Windows and Mac but also works on Linux with Wine. The Android app allows you to configure the camera as well, but not as much as the Windows tools do.
