Questions & Answers

What is the coastline of the United States? Are the Bahamas shown on the map?

Because I am not on the boat, I don't know, but updating is as simple as connecting to a computer via Wi-Fi. A number of sites allow you to order any chart in the world for a minimal fee.

Is it possible to flush mount it?

In fact, yes. With the unit, you get a template for cutting out pieces. If you order a flush mount kit from Simrad, it will fit flush with your existing wall. According to the kit, it consists of a gasket, which you can probably make on your own.

It is a great GPS, but its charts are poor in accuracy
3/5

This is a great A simple and easy to use tool. Nevertheless, the loaded maps lack in terms of accuracy and updates, which has an impact on the purchase decision. Navionics charts had to be purchased to supplement the ones that were provided. The Cape Fear IWC waters are badly mapped on the US Coastal Maps, which I corrected after 6 uses and 2 instances of running aground due to the inaccuracies.

Excellent product
5/5

Handles the Gulf of Mexico like a pro, provides accurate directions, and handles Navigation like a pro. The fish finder has not been used as I have my own system for this purpose. On the Gulf of Mexico, it always has a 5bar signal, which is very easy to use. With a split screen of both map and navigation, you will never lose track of where you are or how far you are from your destination! There are so many things going on. It is a good product and has a wonderful 9" display to greatly benefit the user at night. You are amazing!.

Sadly, Alaska waterways did not come with the software, so I had to purchase a $200 SD card from Sportsman's Warehouse.

Most boaters will find this to be a great unit
5/5

I had to fiddle with the unit quite a bit to get the add-on software installed (moronic In all, it's a very nice nav unit, and the whole process should go smoothly. The display is large and has an easy to use interface. The time spent was well.

Easy to use for the most part
5/5

Despite the fact that I am not a pro, I installed this myself. It came with a mounting bracket which I used. I found that hooking up the boat to the power cable to be the most challenging part of the process. Skinning the wires was challenging due to their size, and I had to be careful not to damage To attach the wires to the screws on the boat, I used two ring connectors (not included). Despite the transducer wire's long length, my boat (an Eastern Sisu 22) fit the transducer well. I purchased a 'stick-on transducer' rather than drill screw holes into the transom to mount the transducer Attach the mounting block to the screws, then screw the screws in. My learning curve for using the unit seems to be fairly low, and it seems to be easy to use A friendly attitude.
