Questions & Answers

Is there a connector that you need to connect this to an RF ?

There is no male PL-42 connector on the antenna cable, so it is equipped with an SO 239 cable termination

If this item comes with a cable to connect to the radio, how long is it?

No, it is nothing more than a base you mount to the mast to mount the coil and whip in place. An order for the coax would be made separately and cut to length before a new connector is You will need a through-deck connector (watertight) in addition to an additional length of coax from the through-deck connector to the radio if you are installing it on a sailboat.

How do you remove the antenna from the When boat storage is with the top down, it would be nice if it were removable without having to remove the bracket. ?

It is possible, but the antenna does not fold down, it has to be removed by taking the coaxial cable off, and then removing the brass nut that holds the antenna in place.

The Firestick has a molded fender mount. Could this antenna be mounted there?

By looking at the flamestick mold and the antenna, I would conclude that it is not possible. WEIRD THAT THE ANTENNA HAS A DIFFERENT THREAD AND ALSO A LARGER SIZE

There is a possibility that the antenna's size will differ from the When connected to my VHF cable, the product appears to be well made and works great

For those replacing the mast antenna on a Metz sailboat, it is important to keep in mind that the Shakespeare body is longer and might not be able to fit in the space previously used by the antenna on a Metz. There is just no harm in being ready to work around the problem or move it to a new place.

Alot of VHF antennas have been around for a while
5/5

Alot of VHF antennas have been around for a while. Antennas like the 5215 have been around for a very long time because they are so effective. A salt water environment such as on a sailboat makes this antenna a perfect fit for a mast top. After 10 years (that's what I got from my last 5215 which has been replaced by this one), you will get a lot use out of it. I like it a lot.
