Questions & Answers

What's the best way to wire these up as atmos upfiring speakers on top of my existing front tower speakers? I'd like to add to the c, f, fh, r, and rh subsystems. ?

Connect the RP-positive and negative connections with speaker wire. 500SA to the height channel's positive and negative connections on a Dolby Atmos capable AV receiver.

Can these be used as rear speakers in a five-speaker system if they are mounted on the wall? 1 system?

Yes, there is a switch on the speaker's bottom. You can use it with an Atmos setup or with a standard surround system. The back of the speakers has a keyhole slot for hanging them on the wall.

How do these stack up against the svs atmos elevation speakers, in your opinion?

These are far superior to the svs elevation speakers in my opinion. I've heard the difference between the two, which is why my home theater has four 500sa speakers.

Although this speaker is superior to the majority of Atmos speakers, it comes at a higher price
4/5

I really like these Atmos-capable speakers because they have the great Klipsch Reference Premiere sound, look, and can be used as upfiring or full-range height speakers. My only issue is with the price, and here's why. Klipsch recognizes that there is little competition in the Atmos enabled height speaker market, and that using bookshelf speakers as front height speakers looks a little strange. For $340 each, you can get an 8000f and an RP- For $400, you can get a 504c and two sets of RP- For my rear surround and rear heights, I bought a pair of 500M's for $250 each. I paid $500 for a pair on Amazon, and NFM in store had them for $275 each, so these are significantly more expensive than the other speakers in terms of size and output. For $250 a pair (NFM) vs $500 a pair for these RP-500Ms, the RP500M is a better full range speaker. 500SA's. Because I have a vaulted ceiling, upfiring atmos isn't an option. Instead, I use these RP- Front heights are 500SAs, and back heights are RP500Ms. The RP- There are a few things on the RP that 500SA's have. It was the 500Ms that convinced me to take the plunge and purchase them. 1) If I ever move and have this option, I can use upfiring atmos, and they fit and look good on my RP- 8000f's. 2) They have a full range (surround) switch that allows them to be mounted as height speakers, and they look a lot better as front angled height speakers than mounted RP-style speakers. 500M's. 3) I compared these to the Sony SS-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I prefer these to the CSE atmos speakers, but the Sonys are currently $100 and these are $500. Are these five times better than the previous ones? No, but they do fit in my Klipsch setup and sound a little better, which is why I decided to buy them. I set the speed to 4 on these. To keep height channels audible and not drowned out by front speakers, I placed them 5db above my front speakers. The smaller, less powerful RP-type would be my guess. At high levels, 140SAs (which I haven't tested) would quickly be drowned out. Basically, if you want atmos for your Klipsch setup, this is the way to go and you won't be disappointed, but I believe the value for money is lacking when compared to my other Klipsch speakers.

NIRVANA IN 3D AURO
5/5

FOR ONE OF MY AURO 3D HOME THEATERS, I PURCHASED 4 PAIRS OF THESE TO REPLACE SOME KLIPSCH RP 140 SA. THE EFFECTS OF A HEIGHT CHANGE ARE PROFOUND, I MUST SAY. BULLETS WHIZZING BY, RAIN, AND EXPLOSIONS ARE ALL VERY REAL AND OFTEN STUNNING TO HEAR. THESE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT HOME THEATER.

You will not be disappointed with the RP500SA
5/5

I'm so pleased with the sound that I'm considering purchasing a pair for my rear-height speaker. Reference premier klipsch and Onkyo receiver on a 160" screen! Ceiling speakers, on the other hand, are the best.

For me, there is no Atmos effect
3/5

Nice speakers with good sound quality that matches the rest of my rp series. However, it did not achieve the primary function of creating the overhead atmos effect. br>I tried various setups, including on top of the floor speakers (which is how it should have worked), on top of the media center furniture, 6 inches lower than the top of the floor speaker, and even 8 inches over the floor speaker without success; my listening spot is nearly 10 feet away from the front of the speakers. I could hear the atmos soundtrack effect, but it felt directional and not overhead because it was coming from the front. br>The only way I could get these speakers to sound amazing was to use them as front-height speakers, but that wasn't an option for me due to the limited space between my 84" projector screen and the walls/ceiling, so they weren't going to be centered. br>br>As you can see from the photos, it's the perfect size for my rp-style dress. Another picture shows my reduced space with the screen rolled down, beneath that screen is a 49" LG tv that I'll be updating for a 65 in the future, another picture shows the atmos speakers sitting on my media center furniture, this way the speakers don't interfere with the screen, but no overhead effect for me (I was willing to sacrifice some screen if I could get the atmos effect while they were sitting on top of the speakers)br> br>br>I really wanted to like them; they have incredible sound quality and a lovely finish, but there is no overhead sound effect for me. Unfortunately, I'll have to return these speakers, and since overhead speakers aren't an option for me because I'm a renter, I'll have to look for smaller front-height speakers that are suitable for my space, or just stick with 5.

They're fantastic
5/5

I don't consider myself to be an audiophile. I am a huge fan of my speakers producing loud, clear sound. Years ago, I had a set of full-sized Klipsch speakers (on all channels), but I had to give them up in our new space to appease the wife. Well. After eleven years, I finally persuaded her that it was time to re-install my surround system. I wasn't able to use full-text search because I didn't have enough time. I used to have the same size floor standing surrounds, but I needed something to go with my new reference series RP- 8600FAs. These were an excellent choice; I switched from Atmos to Surround and configured them on my Aventage receiver, and WOW! These are fantastic. I'm looking forward to putting them through their paces with the others so they can shine, but they're well on their way.

This is a fantastic product, but it isn't suitable for upfiring
3/5

If you want to use these as upfiring speakers, think twice; you won't get the level of immersion you need to make them worthwhile. Don't get me wrong; these are high-quality, powerful speakers, and if you plan to use them as heights, you won't be disappointed.
