Questions & Answers

What does it mean that this product is limited because it doesn't have the bridge?

The speaker(s) can be set up in one of two ways: Sonosnet or standard WiFi Standard WiFi makes use of your. uhhh . WiFi is standard. Sonosnet operates on its own mesh network, which is independent of your WiFi. Sonosnet has the advantages of better coverage where your Wi-Fi doesn't reach, greater reliability, and it won't stutter or drop out even when your standard WiFi is overloaded. br>In order to use Sonosnet, you must have at least one component connected to your router or network. It would be fantastic if you could wire one of the speakers. If you can't, the Boost or Bridge are low-cost units that you can hardwire instead (the Bridge is older, while the Boost is newer and has better wireless).

If I wanted to add a third or even fourth play, I'd do so as follows: Will I be able to stream to all of my speakers from a single audio source if I add one Sonos speaker to my setup?

That is, after all, what makes SONOS so special. All you have to do now is plug the speaker in and configure it using the SONOS app. It only takes a few seconds.

Is it possible to use these with my iPad to listen to an audible book?

Sonos now offers the Audible app as an option in its app, allowing you to listen to audiobooks on your iPad while listening to music through your Sonos system.

Do they come in separate packages?

They are packaged in a single large box. Two separate song speakers are included in the box. They appear to combine two boxed speakers into a larger box. You'd never guess the speakers were from a combined set if you took them out of the big box. They sound fantastic.

When you've (finally) got them set up - WOW! Small
4/5

It's not even close to being true. It's light weight, and they're not joking when they say "book shelf" size. br>br>The SONOS PLAY speakers are compact, but they pack a punch. Coming from the days of large components (speakers that could pass for end tables/ tuners/ amplifiers, etc. ), it's almost impossible to believe that something this small can deliver a better sound than the top-of-the-line components. the- stereo units on the line. br>br>Is it because there isn't a star? The set- I read on-line. line, that some people discovered the set- everything about the set-up appears to be simple (the QUICK START GUIDE (the only one included) lists only three steps), but everything about the set-up appears to be complicated (the QUICK START GUIDE (the only one included) lists only three steps). It was difficult to figure out where to start. Before it was ready to use, it had trouble finding my Wi Fi, refused the 5G version, and gave me a few confusing messages. I made the mistake of assuming that because I had an ALEXA ECHO SHOW, the speakers would automatically connect to it (I did enable SONOS in the ALEXA app). There will be no such luck. These are all-in-one ALEXA SPEAKERS, which I suppose is fine, but I'm not sure why the ALEXA ECHO SHOW found a BOSE bluetooth speaker without issue but these didn't. SONOS doesn't explain it or provide any literature to help you understand it. br>br>However, the excellent separation and sound is too wonderful not to love these speakers. TUNE-IN to AMAZON MUSIC and AMAZON MUSIC to TUNE-IN to AMAZON MUSIC after enabling I was surrounded by stereo music when I was listening to the radio. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> WOW, did I mention that? Well, it appears that each time I play them, I am more amazed at the incredible sound these small speakers produce, and the separation between the right and left speakers is on par with a much more expensive system. After the set-up has become more difficult, These speakers have won me over, despite the fact that setting them up (which could have been a lot easier if a detailed set of instructions and some customer support had been included).

They are fantastic
4/5

But. These speakers are fantastic! I won't repeat what everyone else has said, but I will highlight two drawbacks: br>br> (1) They should be Bluetooth capable for this price point because they are not used with a computer (i. e. , no playing music through the speakers while watching movies on the computer). This is a significant limitation, and it's surprising they haven't added it given how inexpensive it is. br>br>(2) limited grouping options. You can play all speakers or just a few, but there should be groups you can preset and choose for that event or space instead of having to add and subtract each time you listen. There should be a choice between "upstairs" and "downstairs," or "party" and "TV only," for example. Customers have apparently been complaining about this for two years, and Songs has made no move to address this basic problem. Lighting systems already do this, and it's a simple fix, but apparently customers have been complaining about this for two years, and Songs has made no move to address this basic problem.

The SONOS App is a smartphone application that allows you to listen to music through your Speaker Sound: There's room for improvement // Support: There's a lot of room for improvement // GOOD
3/5

UPDATE 2/17/2021: UPDATE 2/17/2021: UPDATE 2/17/20 My Sonos PLAY: rating has been reduced. From one to two stars, depending on the number of speakers. I'm not sure who cares because I don't believe Sonos still sells these speakers - Even Sonos has given up on providing adequate support for these speakers, which should make anyone wary of purchasing any of their products. br>br>The software remains unreliable and buggy. The software app will occasionally lose its ability to operate for no apparent reason and poof. There is no longer any music, and there is no way to get the speakers to work without a great deal of effort - I prefer to use my standard Polkaudio speakers (which are, by the way, pretty awesome) and stream my music through an Amazon Dot or a computer connection. The only disadvantage of going this route is that it restricts me to the rooms that are already wired. br>br>The Sonos app will be available again - After a while, for no apparent reason, it happened again. Trying to work with Sonos support is a waste of time because I don't believe the staff is well-trained and don't seem to understand networking in general. As a result, I stopped calling in order to avoid the frustration of getting nothing done. br>br>In retrospect, due to my frustration with the Sonos app's quirkiness, I would not purchase a Sonos speaker and instead stick to old school sound systems. br>update 5/16/2018:======================================================================================================= My Sonos PLAY: rating has been reduced. Due to the constant software issues I've had since receiving the speakers, and Sonos support's inability to provide useful support to resolve the issue, I've upgraded the speakers from one to three stars. I still like the speakers when they work, but it's a pain to get them back up when they mysteriously vanish from the app. br>br>Fortunately, the problem only happens every few weeks or so. I usually play my four speakers in a large group, and for no apparent reason, all of the speakers will stop playing (even if they are connected directly with an Ethernet cable), and upon closer inspection, I will discover that all of the speakers have been removed from my app. I tried a few different things to try to fix it, but Sonos support has been completely ineffective and frustrating to deal with. I'm not sure how knowledgeable the majority of the support staff is, but it's clear that they rely on some in-house resources. In their responses, they use a house script, which has proven to be completely useless in all of my previous experiences. They will ask you to do things that make no sense, such as checking your wifi when your speakers are hardwired with an Ethernet cable. br>br>Anyway, let's get back to my problem. I've discovered that the only way to fix my problem is to restore at least one of the devices. While this restores the speakers, it still prevents any music from being played. Turning off the group and switching to single speaker play is the next step. I can then restart the group play function after I've set up the single speaker. br>br>I've explained this to Sonos support several times, and all they've done is make some nonsense suggestion or close the ticket. br>UPDATE 4/8/2018:====================================================================================================== I'm thrilled that SONOS' software has finally been updated to include Audible support. Instead of other background distractions, I prefer to listen to books and learn something new while doing other activities. The quality of these speakers is improving all the time. Now, if only SONOS could figure out how to stop my speakers from losing wireless connectivity and disappearing from my SONOS menu. I still don't think the standard troubleshooting tools are very helpful in resolving this issue, and it's definitely not a router issue, as the SONOS support scripted response suggests. I've got a lot of other IoT devices on my home network, and none of them have this problem. br>br>The only way I've found to fix this is to unplug the devices' electrical cords and then plug them back in. It should be attached. Unplugging the cord from the outlet has never worked for me, but strangely enough, unplugging the cord from the device has always fixed my connectivity issues. I've contacted SONOS support about this, but they haven't been able to come up with a viable solution as of yet. ================================================================================================================= br>br>These speakers have a lot of advantages, but they also have some drawbacks, and I wouldn't call them audiophile-quality speakers. Regardless, these small speakers have excellent sound quality and are very attractive. br>br>The sound is the best I've heard from wireless speakers or many wired speakers. Things are changing quickly, however, and there is new competition on the horizon, including Apple, Google, the new Echo Plus, and others. I'm not sure how they'd stack up against each other. There's also the new SONOS ONE, which includes a built-in Far-Field Audio receiver. Alexa and the field voice. However, there is still no analog or HDMI input interface for audio from other sources. br>br>One of the main reasons I chose Play was: The first was the long-awaited Alexa integration, which is now live - YAY! The initial functionality is a little limited, but I think it's a great place to start. It's extremely difficult to get Audible to play through the Sonos speakers. I'm hoping Sonos will reintroduce Audible to their list of supported services. So far, I've only used the Sonos for a few things: Although I would prefer PLAY 1/Alexa integration, what I have so far is a great improvement and meets most of my needs (with the exception of Audible integration). This assumes you want Alexa to play music through your Sonos speakers or you want to integrate Alexa with other devices. Even though this isn't a Sonos issue, I should mention that I have an Alexa Dot next to one of my Sonos Play:1 speakers. 1 speaker, and the Dot frequently does not respond when the Sonos is playing. I was able to mostly correct this by moving the Dot about 8 to 12" away from the speaker. This appears to deal with things fairly well, but not 100%. br>br>If you're using the Google Home ecosystem, you'll be disappointed to learn that they're still incompatible. I'm not sure if Sonos intends to integrate with the Google ecosystem in the future. Such an integration, in my opinion, would be a great enhancement and a great selling point for Sonos, because you can do things with Google that you can't do with Alexa (e. g. , control your lights). , for example, when watching YouTube videos). br>br>It's simple to get started; simply add and enable the Sonos skill in the Alexa app, then perform a discovery. If you named your speakers after the room they're in or a name that already exists in Alexa, you might need to rename them. br>br>So far, the Alexa voice services and skills that have been included appear to be limited to playing and pausing/stopping your speakers, adjusting the volume, asking Alexa what's playing, and having Alexa play other music through your Sonos speakers, as well as grouping the speakers with themselves or other smart devices. Beyond the fundamentals, my favorite feature so far is combining multiple Sonos speakers. This is a thoughtful addition. I love the speaker grouping feature and use it all the time. br>br>Of course, there are other features, but these are the ones I've used so far, and I'm sure Sonos will continue to add new features. Despite the fact that Alexa currently has my heart, I hope that support for Google Home and Siri will be added in the future. br>br>If you don't have Sonos, now is the time to PLAY: If you already own 1 speaker, I recommend that you try out the new SONOS ONE speakers with Far-Field Audio. Voice integration in the field. I'm still annoyed that the new speakers don't have an input interface for other devices (such as an analog input). I'm still perplexed as to why Sonos does not use the device's Ethernet port for this purpose. While it may not have been ideal for everyone, it would have been a step forward. Streaming an Amazon Fire device through Sonos speakers is something I haven't tried yet because I don't have one, but it might be possible. Please let me know if you figure it out. br>br>For the most part, my problems have been minor; the most annoying issue I've encountered is a loss of wireless connectivity. I've never found the standard troubleshooting tools to be very helpful in resolving this issue. I've found that unplugging the devices' electrical cords and then plugging them back in works best. It should be attached. Unplugging the cord from the outlet has never worked for me, but strangely enough, unplugging the cord from the device has always fixed my connectivity issues. I've contacted Sonos support about this, but they haven't been able to come up with a viable solution as of yet. br>br>Despite the fact that I shouldn't do so in a review (sorry), I'd like to share my experience with the seller I used. World Wide Stereo, World Wide Stereo, World Wide Stereo, World Wide Stereo, World Wide Stereo My order had some problems at first. World Wide Stereo, on the other hand, contacted me right away and was more than willing to help. In my situation, they exemplified their commitment to customer service and satisfaction. Based on the service I received, I recommend them and would not hesitate to order from them again.
