I really like how simple it is to set up and how good the sound is. The Alexa integration has yet to be tested.
I have no idea what they sound like. Sonos has created a system that is so difficult to set up that you might never use it. You MUST connect it to the internet, you MUST enable GPS on your phone, and you MUST allow them to spy on you. This is a set of speakers. Why do you have to do anything else with them than plug in a speaker wire? Why? All I see is a way for you to spend a lot of money on speakers in exchange for Sonos spying on you and selling your information. For those who are interested, I used to repair laptops before moving on to writing software. I also have a Cisco networking certification, so I know what I'm talking about when I say this is difficult and just a way for Sonos to spy on you.
Sonos was never intended to be used in a room with more than one speaker. br>br>I have two games to play: In a large open kitchen, the 5s sound fine as long as you stand in the exact center of the room, but not great, and the higher level of functionality I expected from a next-gen speaker simply isn't there. To have music on the porch, I like to turn one of the speakers out the window, but once the speakers are paired, you have to unpair them and then re-pair them. Just for that one speaker, add them and redo the entire setup. To make it a two-person game again. Repeat the process in the speaker room, but this time listen to 10 minutes of True BS to make it sound better. They're at opposite ends of a long room, so if I'm sitting at one end and want to adjust the balance so I'm not just listening to one speaker, I have to go five levels deep into the app's settings to find the EQ and then adjust it with a slider that never hits the right number. Why can't I just save a few pre-recorded messages? sets of furniture for the room If you want something that sounds good and can be used with two speakers in a room, look into HEOS or BlueSound instead of wasting $1,000 like I did.
For $1,000, I recently bought two Sonos 5 speakers. They sound fine, no better or worse than similar-sized speakers from other brands that I've heard in friends' houses. However, the software is only average, and the Sonos staff does not appear to care about their customers' needs. For instance, consider this: If you have song files organized into folders on your phone, you won't be able to see them in the Sonos app. If you ask this question in the Sonos community, you'll find dozens upon dozens of people requesting this feature dating back seven years. Sonos, on the other hand, has never done so. br>br>I inquired about this on the Sonos chat room; "Just to set your expectations, you can play the music saved on your phone via On This Android Device, but you won't be able to play the file saved in your music library," Jeffry said after 10 minutes of waiting for a rep. Because the music library files were downloaded from your computer or laptop. " That's gibberish, so I ended the chat and called their support line, which I got disconnected from the first time I called. I called back, and Mateo informed me that this was not possible; They are "investigating" providing this feature, but no timeline has been set. br>br>In conclusion, if you are interested in user-generated content, you may want to shop around and try another company. Software that is easy to use and customer service that is quick to respond.
This is a waste of money. They are unable to create a functioning app. They spend so much money every year and still end up with a worthless product because I haven't been able to connect any of my products.
