Questions & Answers

Would I be able to check out a book from my local library for my Paperwhite?

Overdrive, which I use to send library books to my Paperwhite, allows me to retrieve them if they are not readily available at the library. Sometimes the selection at the library isn't as great as I'd like, so I sometimes turn to Overdrive. A good selection of the most popular and most commonly read titles should be available. In the event that the book is very popular, you may have to put it on hold or wait. Since I can borrow 95% of the books I read from the library and send them to my paperwhite, it is extremely convenient for me.

Can you tell me what the special offers are?

I am Sheryl. A Special Offer is an advertisement from Amazon that appears on a device's Lock Screen before it is unlocked. If you open your email, they won't obstruct your reading You can read books on it, play games on it, watch movies with Prime Video app on it or download movies with Prime Video app directly to your Kindle Fire tablet. With Kindle e-readers, Amazon is able to offer a wide range of movies and books Approximately 20% of prices for the Kindle and Fire tablet models are subsidized by delivering Special Offers, as well as To remove them, you need to contact the Amazon Customer Service line at 888-822-4654 A 280-word summary Contact our Client Services Department at 4331 to get them removed for $15-$30.

Do you really get no glare from it?

No, the kindle e-mail isn't working You won't have to worry about glare on your readers! That's not the case with the Kindle Fires! The one I have in Florida I use in the pool (in a waterproof cover of course until I can afford a at the beach, on a boat, and there is no shade here, so it is antiglare, Due to the fact that it is not shiny This helps to reduce eye strain when reading at night. The backlight can also be adjusted for individual preferences, which makes reading at night easily bearable. I've been using a Kindle since 2006 and I'm sure you will enjoy it too!

Has the on/off button been added to the bottom of this version?

In short, yes. The zip-ties should be glued into place on the appropriate size or trimmed The power button on either side of the offending button is tied. I will continue. ** If you use Super Gel, make sure you don't go overboard with the amount Using glue reduces your chances of accidentally letting the super glue get into the super-glued area If you get super glue on the power or volume button (it runs under your finger, as well as everywhere around it), you'll have to press the switch again. Please remember to firmly hold the zip into place and I recommend wearing something clear over your finger or slowly rolling your finger off the zip - Make sure you tie yourself if you are stuck to it by glue. I will continue. There's no limit to what kind of zip you choose If you are shopping at large hardware stores or online, you can typically find the colored or plain ties you want (white, black, green, blue, orange, yellow, etc.), and you can choose exactly how thick the material should be. If you have to trim it to fit, don't be afraid to try several different sizes and settings Zip code - If you have to buy them in packs of 25 or 100, ties are cheap and available

I have replaced a Gen 3 with this one, and it works fine

Even if you own an older version of the Paperwhite that is still working, there is no reason to buy the "all-new " Gen 4 model Paperwhite "10th Generation" (Amazon incorrectly refers to this as such. The 10th generation of Kindles are available But only the Fourth Generation Paperwhite ) unless a certain degree of water resistance (not waterproof as they claim) or Audiobooks are important to you. I do not think either of these would be useful to me in an email These devices are lighter, smaller, and less power hungry, which will lend themselves to eBooks and audiobooks. It is a great advantage to Newcastle, as Amazon's cloud can be utilized by owners for any overstorage needs they may have. I personally know of no one who has ever run out of onboard storage on a Kindle, including the first keyboard models. I have hundreds of books loaded onto them and I have never run out of room. My opinion is that the much touted thinness and lightness of this edition, as described by Amazon, is overstated. There is a slight difference in thickness and weight, but it does not change the paradigm. You should also beware of these things Perhaps your micro USB cable will fit into your device, but the one supplied with mine will not. As a whole, I find it ridiculously stupid and/or venal of Amazon to ship a product that is so poorly engineered and quality controlled that it doesn't have a To replace a battery that had failed on my Gen 3, I bought this Kindle. Since all of the previous Paperwhite editions were taken off Amazon's website, this is the only one left to choose from at a price of I'm not going to sit here and argue that it's no game changer, but it's a Kindle. It may not be what you thought it was, so you will be disappointed if you buy it thinking it is.

It's terrible how short the battery life is

A Kindle has always been a favorite of mine since I bought the first one. The PaperWhite version of my Kindle is my third one. It does not have a long battery life It is real. The WiFi option drains your battery within a 9-hour period if you leave it turned on With the WiFi off, you can get 10-hour battery life even if you're not using the device (approx. Two days) away from the device You should spend 3 hours a day on it. Because it doesn't keep WiFi on all the time and has a very low battery life, this is also why I gave it a low ranking. My Kindle has been my best friend otherwise. Since the battery does not seem to last that long, I will most likely return it.

The pinhole sharp spot issue has been resolved

The report on Oct 6, 2019 states It has been almost a year since I first reviewed it, and I noticed that most of the issues I mentioned in my initial review were no longer an issue. As a result, I was never bothered by the pinhole near the corner since it was so hard to see it with the naked eye. A battery that has been used for a long period of time does not necessarily last longer during hibernation. As for the uneven color temperature of the screen, I do not recall noticing it. I still have some problems with glare, but otherwise, it's working great. Whenever I was near a window, I had to adjust my reading angle to avoid With a digital device, this isn't a big issue, and in light-sensitive applications, it is not a barrier that must be overcome The weight and convenience of this product. Thus, please take my original review below with a grain of salt, as I was being nitpicky about a device that had quite a bit of potential for me. As well as changing the three stars to four, I decided to add a review. *Bite size is a normalized amount derived from data from (total of) 18 of our users. As of 2014, I have owned a Kindle Paperwhite. It used to be a favorite of mine and I gifted it to someone a while back. As I had expected too much from this new 2018 version (had been waiting for many months for it to be released), I was disappointed by some of its shortcomings.

I must clarify that I am an avid fan of e-commerce in general. I used the Kindle Oasis for a couple of days, but I don't like the hard slick aluminum back of it, nor its side-lit front, using which you can see the slight unevenness On a Paperwhite with bottom lights, the unevenness is from top to bottom, which means that within each text line, the light is normally evenly distributed, thus serving as a less distracting device when I like how the screen is flat now with the bezels. Here's the new 2018 Paperwhite

I like the flat screen now with the bezels. Although the first device I received and the subsequent replacement have a pinhole dot under the screen (see photos), the first device remains. The light is damp and there is a small particle of dust on the screen This is the ink text and is located in the light distribution layer (I'm guessing). By adjusting the front light to a high level, the dot becomes more and more Second device seems to have the same problem (just my luck or is there something else going on? I live As per many reviews, this pinhole bright spot is also present on previous generations of the device, so I have to wonder why Amazon has not fixed it yet. Moreover, the charging cable did not seem to be well constructed, it took a lot of effort for me to plug it in, and to pull it out, because it seemed as if the connectors weren't properly fitted together. This has been updated (Updated When I plugged in the cable the first couple of times, I had trouble connecting it, but after a while it was smooth and easy. A major problem with the screen is that it gets a lot of reflection from bright windows or light sources (see the picture below taken in the afternoon under an east-facing window). The news was updated recently and I don't know if this has always been the case or if it is a new It was essential to tilt my Kindle to certain angles even with the blinds shut to avoid glare, though the glare was softer than on an LCD screen, and was still very As a paperback has no reflective glare issues in similar lighting conditions, my replacement Kindle Paperwhite appears yellower near the bottom, especially the left corner. This is distracting but hopefully, I'll get used to it over time. I try to explain to myself that it is just like real books getting old and turning yellow-I try to make sense of it. The following is the January 26, 2019 (Update Some reviewers have complained about the battery life. According to my experience, if I don't use it for several hours, even with wifi working, the device automatically goes into hibernation mode. As a result, the battery lasts I'd read about 1 if I was reading With wifi on for 2 hours a day, the battery drains so fast that it does not last more than one During reading, however, if airplane mode is in effect, reducing battery consumption is significantly improved, and the only inconvenience will be Wikipedia will not be able to appear if you don't know a word and the dictionary does not include it as well. )Regardless, I'm still happy with the reading device and Amazon replaced it quickly when I asked for it. But perhaps I'm asking too much for a digital device. In light of these experiences, I am no longer inclined to trust Those who read. Unlike most people, I do not usually write reviews, but I deeply believe this is an excellent product and hope it helps fellow consumers and helps Amazon make better products.
